So, the Internet informs me that cri de coeur is not just a cry from the heart, it is also the name of "globally conscious vegan footwear."

Duly noted.

Only water, DR John G.  Only water.

Although the mere idea of "conscious footwear" of any kind is likely to drive me to it.       :)

I'm wondering if such footwear will complain if the odor eaters are overdue for changing.

John G, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. It shakes me up a bit to learn of the passing of someone I grew up with, even if we weren't close. The Pulitzer is quite impressive.

DR Dan M, sorry to hear about your no-show. I don't understand no-shows, especially on Valentine's Day. I do know that many people have trouble remembering the plans they've made. Glad you had a good movie to watch. Hope you had some chocolate, too.

Another evening hunkered down to watch Olympics and wait for snow.  If this develops and we can't make it to Lima tomorrow it will be the 4th Sunday in a row.

Found out yesterday that my elderly parishioner was found by her neighbor lying on her kitchen floor and was rushed to the hospital  so I was there last night

Been sleeping off and on all day, and I definitely feel better for it.  I think I'm up for a movie, and I think that movie is going to be Dassin's THIEVES' HIGHWAY.

I must make a point of seeing this. I really like Dassin's work.

I read an interesting article in this month's SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN about how things we think of as unlikely, like winning the lottery, aren't really so unlikely after all. It's written by a mathematician, but it's easy enough to skip over the math if you prefer.

Good morning, all! I slept late and this morning I had a lot of emails concerning the ROBERTA recording sessions to deal with.  I took a vocal score to Encores! last week for our rehearsal pianist, who wasn't there, and this morning - the day before our first rehearsal -  he asked about his score and what we're rehearsing tomorrow. Oy!

DR TCB, I like your new avatar, and I don't want you retiring from acting.  There. I've said it. I cannot force you, cajole you, or bribe you, nor do I wish to.  I simply think it would be a loss to you and the community.  You're too young to retire.

The best biography i've read lately is Paul Kildea's Benjamin Britten: A Life In The Twentieth Century. I like biography, autobiographies not so much, particularly the me-me-me self-serving ones. Some of the other ones that I liked very much:
Charmed Circle: Gertrude stein & Company (Mellow)
Jane Austen: A Life (Tomalin)
Act One (Hart)
George Gershwin: His Life and Work (Pollack)
Secret Muses: The Life of Frederick Ashton (Kavanaugh)
Marie Antoinette:The Journey (Fraser)

Thank you, DR elmore, for the comments about my retiring.  It would probably be easier to give up breathing.

I remember seeing The Front in the theatre - when the credits began to roll the theatre became silent

It was chilling  to see the words "blacklisted in 19.....) next to the names
