We are watching women's curling on CNBC.  One of the sweepers was born here in Middletown, OH, and lived here until she was 9.

I watched a lot of curling today with my niece. Is curling big in the US?  I am really enjoying the Canadian women's team.

All I know Jennifer is how many people on facebook that have commented how boring it is, except for the Norwegian team with the wild pants.

DR Jennifer, curling is only "big" in the US every 4 years  ;)

DR TCB, Java Jive is a much cuter building than Java Johnny's.  It's also the title of one of the Miami University Men's Glee Club's signature songs.

I love the Carry On series.  Once upon a time I had all of them, but I lost them when my apartment was burgled.

Just found out that a friend of mine from college days, Angelo Henderson, who went on to win a Pulitzer Prize and became a well-known radio personality in Detroit, has died. No details on cause of death. Nothing.

Had seen Angelo since I graduated back in 1983. But I followed his career.

That's terrible!  I'm so sorry, John G. :(

Found out yesterday that my elderly parishioner was found by her neighbor lying on her kitchen floor and was rushed to the hospital  so I was there last night

then back to the hospital to check on Tally

...and, how is she, DR Vixmom?

she didn't break anything but she was dehydrated  and disoriented we are not sure how long she was there but best guess is 12 -18 hours

Oh, no!

Today was our first two-show day.  Next Saturday is our only other two-show day.  They provided pizza for lunch in between the shows.  Yummy!

Both shows went quite well.  The second show, actually was a bought house.  A local private (I think) elementary school bought the house and sold the tickets to their own students and their parents.  It was more than half-full.  We were told that they actually bought houses for two of Olympia Family Theater's shows this season.  They make enough money to make it worth it.  Good for them!

Ms. Chenoweth puts on a great show. She was onstage for about 1:45, and it felt like a really full evening.

Rob Fisher was her musical director and he was in charge of a 12-piece band with some local players. Interesting that he had an overture with snippets from "Say a Little Prayer for Me" and "Glitter and Be Gay," neither of which she sang.

Musical highlights were "All the Things You Are" (she said Kern was her favorite composer), "Bring Him Home" and Madeline Kahn's "I'm Tired" number from "Blazing Saddles."

She also did the bit where she brought up someone from the audience to duet with her on "For Good." And, yes, the 20-year-old was really good.

My book collection is quite eclectic with volumes on a variety of topics and genres.  I go by the old mantra of Faulkner: read everything!

Most recent readings:

1491 by Charles Mann
Emma by Jane Austen
Round house by Louise Erdrich
1972 by Morgan Llewellyn

I think that these are the only biographies that I've read (in chronological order):

Beverly: An Autobiography (Beverly Sills)
There's Mel, There's Woody, and There's You (BK)
Album Produced By... (BK)

I loved them all. :D

It is growing in popularity in this area. It has always had a following in the northern tier states like North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and a few other.
