Well, you've read the notes, the notes mentioned Studio Ghibli, and now it is time for you to post until the anime cows come home.

My dyslexic fingers often type the word this way when I mean the opposite of backward. Happens all the time.

I have never seen a Studio Ghibli film -- or any anime at all.

I have also never seen House of Cards.  But since Kevin Spacey is one of those who(m) I could listen to reading the proverbial phone book, and more and more people are talking about it, now including BK, I believe attention must be paid.

Oy.  I need more hours in the day.  Better yet, I think, a second life.  One isn't nearly enough.  Yes, that would be the ticket.  There needs to be two of me.

Good morning, all! I'm on my usual pattern of one night of lousy sleeping, a groggy day and then a good night's sleep, etc. God alone knows how this will be affected by the time change this weekend.  I hate it.    I will shortly run to the pharmacy to pick up my meds, then head to the market.  At some point I will be getting a phone call from the Man from Philadelphia, which could go on for too long since he loves to talk.

I know too much about Mr Spacey and his behavior to want to see him in anything. Still, The Ref is my favorite Christmas movie and he's quite good in it.

I am loving the reports on Li'l Abner and looking forward to more.

TOD - no time for viewing/listening this weekend, but I do have a media-related question.  How do I dispose of videotapes that we've recorded off-the-air?  When Rob was a kid he taped a lot of Star Trek episodes and has now given me the green light to dispose of them.  Commercial videotapes can be donated to the book sale (but we're finding that they don't sell well...), but these home-recorded ones can't be sold.  I hate to just put them in the trash, but I've read that recycling is expensive.  Thoughts?

I hadn't though of recycling, Ginny. So I don't really know. I'd have probably put them in the trash.

How about a mash-up musical of Li'l Abner and 1984?

DR GINNY these people recycle, but it costs some money.

Also it seems a lot of schools like to take video tapes and record over them for classes.....or some schools anyway....maybe someone in your area has such a program.

DR John G. - in answer to your question from yesterday...  I took a peek at the trailer for the new Annie. I have to say, it is not to my taste. All up-to-date, with quick editing, modern pop culture references, and just a general coarseness.

I hadn't though of recycling, Ginny. So I don't really know. I'd have probably put them in the trash.

I'm responsible for at least a few very large trash bags worth of VHS tapes sitting in the landfills today.

The stuff might be recyclable in some way, but even though I participate in normal recycling at home and consider myself a halfway decent citizen as regards such things, as soon as it becomes a challenge or a hassle or an expense....sorry, the sh stuff goes into the trash.

So, time change this weekend.  Spring Forward, people!!  :)

You know, it just doesn't feel like it's time for that when there's still what looks like a solid foot of frozen snow on the ground everywhere around here.

With regard to Animation:

I have yet to see FROZEN, but the truth is that I have tired of animated movies altogether.  There are just too many or them now.

And, I used to love animated features.

Back in the day, if we got 1 or 2 animated features a year, that was a lot.  And, more often than not, these movies were "special".

Now, it seems that we get, at least, one animated movie every month.  They are no longer "special".
