DR ChasSmith, the restaurant I was talking about last night is, indeed, Rookwood.  It's now The Rookwood and the menu seems a little more la-dee-da than when you could get an Erkenbreckerburger.

After 2 glorious spring-like days, we are back to blustery, wintery weather.  It snowed pretty hard and now we're having flurries.  It's not supposed to last long, but I did have to close the sunroof on my car for this morning's errands.

Thank you for that.  I couldn't remember exactly where it was located, and I'm a little sorry it's changed.  The times I was taken there would have been in the 1980s on visits from L.A.  I remember the look and feel of the place, and I remember liking the burgers.  And now I remember my mom and dad explaining the Erkenbreckerburger!

The piano recital last night (by Valentina Lisitsa, a Ukranian) was wonderful. They had erected a large screen with two cameras covering the keyboard, so that all in the Ordway (which seats 2,206) could see her hands, which was a welcome addition.

To take up JRand's question, too:

Glen Campbell
k.d. lang, when she does country
Willie Nelson
Patsy Cline
Lyle Lovett, when he does country

Miss Crystal Gayle - sister of Loretta Lynn - singing a nice song and wearing a stage costume that gives a nod to their Native American heritage.

I hate to think what the howling and Idina Menzel-American Idol crowd would do to this song today.

Good morning, all.

Suffered a bad allergy attack yesterday. Took a Benedryl, went to bed early, then got up in the middle of the night and had to take another Benedryl. Ugh.

Things are a little better today. I can at least open my eyes, for the most part.

That is bad.  If I took that much Benadryl I would sleep the day away.

The phone call with the Man from Philadelphia lasted 90 minutes, and he had some good advice about the other institute and my problems with them.

My therapist today suggested that my HMO refer me to a neurologist for a nerve conduction test, and I've sent my doctor a request for that referral. We do what we can.

Jesus! the Warner Brothers Shop says they can't help me with this shipment, which appears to be in limbo. They advise me to check with my post office. Here's what I know:

The UPS tracking site tells me: 03/07/2014    8:35 P.M.   Package transferred to local post office

The US Post Office tracking site tells me: March 7, 2014 Electronic Shipping Info Received

And there is where it ends; where the fat hell is this shipment?

Oy.  Hope DR Elmore's package turns up somewhere soon.

I HATE this new system of shipping by one carrier who hands it off to another for delivery.  Talk about asking for trouble.  It's causing problems for a lot of people, and what really galls is that they can't even implement a tracking system that works.  On half the shipments like this I've had, the tracking would be there in some half-arsed way like it is for DR Elmore, and would NEVER get completed, even after I got the item.  It just beggars understanding, all of it.

I hope I'm understanding correctly that the call from the Man from Philadelphia wasn't all that bad, even though long.

Someone -- was it Screen Archives? -- just recently dropped the two-carrier megillah in favor of going back to direct shipments.  Others need to follow that example.

And speaking of US Postal problems, remember those two missing Netflix discs? Netflix sent another set, and today the original ones showed up as well! I have two copies of each!

Bingo! He's really a good guy, but this situation about the other institute could have been grisly and I was dreading it.

Morning, everybody!

Just a quick drop in to let everyone know that The Lovely Wife(tm) was successfully delivered of a baby boy yesterday afternoon. The latest addition came in at 8lb. 7 oz., took one look at his father, and immediately demanded to go back.

Will post pics later.

Congrats, Elan!
