JohnG, if there are any Paneras near you I would suggest  you give them a try -  the ones by me  bake their bread fresh each day - it is sliced to order - and any bread left at the end of the day is donated to local food pantries  -   they are a great supporter of the soup kitchen  our church is associated with

. . . . Continued problem solving vibes for DR DAN M

Thank you DR Jrand63 and to everyone whom I've forgotten to thank!  I am working on my letter to the bank.  Not having that money really stings (and stinks).  But, I must press onward no matter.

Why is TCM showing Christmas movies in March?

I love Christmas anytime of the year.  Don't know why.

. . . . THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO . . . . The Lone Ranger, purely because I thought it might be interesting to see what Johnny Depp does. But lord, what a waste of film . . . .

I just didn't get the English-language, Americanized "Dragon Tattoo" movie.  Far too many talented actors, very poor direction, ugly movie.  The Johnny Depp "Lone Ranger" was a huge waste, execrable in every way.  I don't think there's been a successful, well-done movie version of the Lone Ranger yet.

Which reminds me, I disliked intensely the Johnny Depp/Tim Burton remake of "Willy Wonka".  Despite reverting back to Roald Dahl's original title and supposedly being "more faithful" to the original book, it is not worthy of carrying the dishwater of the Gene Wilder/Mel Stuart movie.  The only highpoints of the Depp version were the scenes with the CGI manipulated performance of Deep Roy as the Oompa Loompas and one of my all-time favorites, Christopher Lee.

Thank you to DRs Singdaw and Vixmom for the nice comments last night about my new dress.

I agree with the others, Ginny, you will be a knockout in that dress!

TCB  you never told us which part you are playing... I assume it is Mr Laurence?

Yes, my dear, you are correct.  I was going to hold out for Aunt March, but I finally gave in and took Mr. Laurence.

The only thing about the Depp remake of Willy Wonka was a twisted scene at the gates of the factory where some sort of mechanized display of life-sized dolls goes haywire, crashes and burns in front of the kids. It was really strange and I just wish the rest of the movie had been like that.

Loving this Edie show. The last episode I'll watch before bed is a half hour devoted to the bossa nova with Stan Getz and some great musicians performing a surprising array of songs, including a killer version of "Something's Coming."

Did you read the novel, "March," which won the Pulitzer a few years ago. It was about the father and what happened to him during the Civil War. Supposedly a wonderful book.

This is a new adaptation written by the director / head of the drama school.  It is a long one-act, which is not the way I would present it, but it isn't my call.

I've heard good things about Edie Adams's show.  I like her and am a big Ernie Kovacs fan.  I admire her perseverance following his untimely death, her efforts to pay off his debts, and her championing of his TV shows.  It's so sad to know that many of his shows were either taped over or dumped into the New Jersey Meadowlands.  At least we know what Jimmy Hoffa's watching! :D
