Thanks DR BEN for the information about tablets.  I was asking because I have WIRED internet, not WIFI, so I would have to find some kind of hot spot to use a tablet.

A Gaelic Blessing:

May those who love us,
Love us.
And those that don't love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May He turn their ankles,
So we'll know them
By their limping.

I ordered the LIL ABNER Broadway Cast CD yesterday.

DR Jrand53 -

You can turn your wired Internet into wireless by purchasing a router/modem. There are many models that are not too expensive.

Yes, you are correct. You would need a hot spot to use a tablet.

Actually, Jack, you would only need a router. I assume you already have a modem since you have wired internet. There are combo modem/router devices but most often nowadays, unless you are getting high end internet/phone/tv, the cable company only gives you a modem. If you want a router you have to supply it yourself, but that may save on the rental of the equipment. But, you should ask your cable company if they have modem/routers and if you can upgrade your equipment. The answer may be no but you've asked. If no, then go to Walmart or Best Buy or your local electronics store (or Radio Shack) and look at routers.

Another option is to replace the modem you have from the cable company with your own modem/router combo device. As I mentioned earlier you may be able to save on rental charges for a modem. Many cable companies, in an effort to squeeze every last penny they can out of customers, have begun to charge rental fees for modems and routers along with the cable box.

You can look at Walmart and the other stores for those devices.

This brought to mind the infamous "Carol Burnett Show" outtake with Tim Conway, Carol, Vicki Lawrence and Dick Van Dyke in which Tim Conway imitates the sneeze of Siamese elephants (joined at the trunk).

BK's comments about not going to Facebook after the earthquake reminded me that a friend of mine has coined (he believes he's coined) a word for folks on FB who seem oblivious to so many things:

"Oblivipods" is the word.

DR Vixmom I didn't realize your in-laws were on my side of the world.  The summers there are much like the summers in Alaska.  Do they also have spectacular midnight sunsets?

Why do they live there?

Well we just had us a rather irritating earthquake. Went on for about ten seconds or so and a small bit of intense shaking.

It seems the reaction is it felt stronger than a 4.4.  DR Jeanne must have felt it harder than you did.

4.4 I'm reading.  Have to surely stay away from Facebook or I will not be able to bite Ye Olde Tongue.

It was quickly downgraded from a 4.7.  I think those outside of the area read 4.7 and of course locals know to wait a few minutes for an accurate report.

Thank you, bk. Because of the reviews, I was not going to go out of my way to see "The Book Thief." I had loved the book too much. I would have eventually seen it, I'm sure, but now I'm actively going to seek it out.

I am hoping Keith reads the book before we see the movie.  I am expecting the feel of the movie  to be different, and not nearly as good as the book, but the previews still look good.

Happy St. Paddy's Day, all!

I've gone missing for a couple of days, partly because my lovely Irish mother was in the hospital, and there was a real fear of losing her yesterday. Happily, she made it through an emergency surgery and is in ICU for recovery. So far, so good.

BK, loved your review of THE BOOK THIEF. I will definitely see it now, thank you.

Wishing everyone a joyous and very lucky day!
