TRIPPING THE LIGHT FANDANGO

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a trip and had a light fandango as a chaser, and now it is time for you to post until the tripping cows come home.

Last night, Theater Artists Olympia had a Toga Party fund raiser!  We brought in a little over $1000! ;D I haven't figured any reimbursements yet, but it shouldn't be too much.

At the Toga Party Fund Raiser, we had four different local bands for the entertainment.  One of the groups was called Argentina Weeps.  They were good...they sang rock & roll versions of show tunes!!  I guess they usually have two vocalists, but this time they only had one singer.  They sang songs from "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "The Muppets" (the movie with Amy Adams and Jason Siegel), "Evita" (of course), "West Side Story," "The Rocky Horror Show" and several others.  For me, they were the highlight of the night!

The other three groups were pretty good, too and they all had their fans.

And now, I'm going to bed.  I have been away from home since about 3:30 and I need to sleep.  Today, I get to sleep in!  I don't have to be anywhere until 4:00.  The next play that TAO is doing is called "Chamber Music" by Arthur Kopit.  It will be our first play in our new theater, The Midnight Sun!  I will be the assistant stage manager.  I've never been an ASM before, so I hope the stage manager tells me EVERYTHING that I need to do.

We have a read-through today at 4:00 (that's where I have to be), but I can only stay until about 5:40 or so.  That should be okay because the show is only supposed to be about 45 minutes.  I have to leave because I'm ushering for Ann Hampton Callaway Sings the Streisand Songbook!  I CAN'T WAIT!!  I have been looking forward to this ever since they announced it last summer!  I'm assuming that she won't sign after the show, but I'll bring some cash in case CDs are sold.

I've tripped the light fandango, but it wasn't fantastic.  Or even transatlantic.

I was so sick yesterday.

Threw up everything in my stomach.  I haven't done that in 40-50 years.

No idea what caused it.

Eating very light today.

Good morning, all.

Decent sleep, and slept in a little, too.  I shan't complain.

But now it's time for at least two cuppas.  I hate the word cuppa, but just felt like saying it this once and getting it out of my system.

Feel better vibes for DR DRUXY.

I dreamed a very funny musical last night.....with funny dialog and songs.....woke up and dreamed it all again when I fell back to sleep.  Of course, this morning I can't remember a note or word of dialog.

Well, last night we finally saw GRAVITY on Time Warner on Demand.

We both thought it was very good.

It is amazing how that was filmed!

Good morning, all!  I was feeling under the weather yesterday, so I went to bed at 7:00 last night and stayed there until 10:30 this morning. Mi plan was to get up at 6:00, head down to Toyland by 9:00, and be home by noon, but I could not make myself move.  I've a suspicion that when my ceiling collapsed on Monday I breathed in some lurking bugs that have made me sickly. God knows I inhaled enough schmutz into my sinuses to make my life hell all week; between that and the pollen, I'm lucky to be standing.

I had many bizarre dreams, from working at The Drama Book Shop to recording ROBERTA in Dublin; perhaps it was my life flashing before my eyes?

Yesterday I stubbed a toe (#4 on the right foot, if you must know) on an object I walk past a dozen or so times per day, that was sitting right where it's been sitting for the past five or six years.  I hadn't whacked a toe like this in quite some time, and I went through that old familiar lightning-fast progression of sensations, from shock and disbelief, to anger at both the object and myself, to thinking I'm lucky that this one isn't going to hurt, to the five-second delay and onrush of blinding pain, to hopping around screaming in tongues, to the waiting for the eventual dulling of the pain...

It's interesting that I did this a lot back in the day, and have somehow "mostly" avoided doing so in my current adult life (though I apparently will NEVER learn how to walk around my platform bed frame without leaving a little piece of shin or knee behind.)  (And I did whack my left elbow's funny-bone passing through a doorway this week.)  (Maybe I'd better just start watching where the HELL I'm going.)

I'm very fortunate that the toe did calm down, and I must not have cracked the bone or anything because there was no severe discomfort later, and no bruising.  I have a very colorful picture I took in my twenties of my best black and blue toe; that one really must have had a broken bone in there somewhere, or maybe it just broke a bunch of blood vessels, but it was the kind of thing where you can hardly stand to pull the sheet up over your foot in bed.

Today I feel just the slightest hint of tenderness, but it's enough to make me want to stick my leg out and trip the first light fandango that waltzes through here, and then laugh and laugh as it flips around and tries to recover itself.  So watch out.

We love this series, especially the first episode and the last two episodes from this season.
