From DR Ginny,
Quote
Richard is the Holmes fan in our household.  The CBS series ELEMENTARY is the first version that's really held my interest.

If it weren't for Keith I doubt I would be watching ELEMENTARY.  I have a very much like/dislike relationship with it.  One of my biggest issues is that Holmes & Watson whisper all the time.  I guess they didn't want to copy SHERLOCK & decided Watson should have the major medical error causing her to leave the field.  I think they should have kept with the original novels that Watson had returned from Afghanistan.

I am pondering what I think about any recipes whose title include the words "frizzled shallots."

Is a frizzled shallot like little shallot "onion" rings?

DR elmore I'm glad you are somewhat better today.  Maybe half of a Benadryl will work instead of Nyquil.

After about an hour Keith asked if I minded if he turned off THE WOLF OF WALL STREET.  I happily agreed and wished he had asked sooner.  It was just the same bad behavior over and over again with not much new in the story.  I expect once the investigation began things would have been more interesting but I didn't really care.

I just received the Hammer Films The Vampire Lovers, which I've never seen. I may watch that tonight. Sheridan LeFanu is one of my favorite writers, a good Dublin boy.

Ah, the Hammer Films, what fun!  I'm not sure if I'm putting into words how they affect me, but they really do create a whole other world for me.  Like someone has dropped you into a world that makes sense and then all the action takes place, and it's all cohesive somehow.

THE VAMPIRE LOVERS is, indeed, a goodie.

It is 3 hours longs, which had a lot to do with our decision to stop watching when we were already finding it tiresome.

Today, expecting rain which we didn't get, my hiking group went on a 3 mile walk on a stretch of the walking/bike path.  This area is known to be filled with litter  Since the kind people in my group tend to pick up litter wherever we go we all were reminded to take plastic bags with us.  I was grateful for the woman who handed out a surgical clove to each of us.  For the first half of the walk we were up and down collecting trash, some of which some climbing into bushes was necessary.  We then left the bags at the turnaround point to be collected by a couple who walked with us.

I think I would have had an easier workout at the gym :)

Was reading a news story about the new film NOAH, and the producer or writer or someone connected with the film was going on and on about how surprising it was that Hollywood had NEVER bothered to put the story of Noah's Ark on the big screen.

Evidently, he hasn't noticed that TCM constantly runs the 1928 film NOAH'S ARK.

The rest of the story was about how various religous groups are objecting to the film because it takes some liberty with the story. I am guessing these people have seen very, very few film versions of Biblical stories! LOL!

The funniest objection to the film was by the conservative radio/tv guy, Glenn Beck, who dissed the film because it was pro-animal.

I have The Vampire Lovers on Blu-ray now, but haven't watched it yet.  And I do believe it would be the perfect thing to settle down in front of tonight!  And I shall be doing so in solidarity with the ailing but hopefully recovering DR Elmore.  What the hell.  Thank you for the idea, gentlemen.

There was also the 1999 mini-series with John Voight & Mary Steenburgen.

I had to find his interview and read it.  His comment of "I don’t think it’s an environmentalism thing as much as it’s just pro-animal and antihuman. I mean strongly antihuman" is probably true though I might say to him that is understandable, after all God felt the need for the flood ;)

Over all I think he might have some legitimate reasons to dislike the movie.  According to him I fit the category of those who will love it. :)

Taking inventory here, I have THE VAMPIRE LOVERS and TWINS OF EVIL on Blu, but I don't have the middle film in the "Karnstein Trilogy", LUST FOR A VAMPIRE, at all -- nor have I ever seen it.  I'm not even sure I've seen the other two all the way through.  Time to remedy this.  Karnsteins, here I come.

I just had an intensel phone call from my beloved sister-in-law JoAnn. Things are not good in Ohio at present for my family, and they could really use some good vibes at the moment. I am very serious about this request.

One part of the problem: Lady M is kicking up more dirt, some of it aimed at me, the majority being thrown at Randy and Jo.  If God wanted to give the world a treat, He'd kill the bitch.

For you new DRs, I have two brothers, my youngest Randy is married to JoAnn, and the one two years younger than I; I refer to them as the Macbeths, and an uglier pair of shits hasn't been seen in sometime. It's truly a case of a marriage made in hell, each enabling the other to be as crooked, petty, and generally mean as possible.

Is anybody here watching the World Figure Skating championships?  Is it on in the US?  I'm not sure when it is live with the time difference. But here they are showing it on the CBC from 3pm-4pm and 7pm-8pm. So i guess they are just showing 1 hour of the best perfomances?  Not sure I'll check it out tonight (I recorded it).
