Yes; the DH's parents were one of the prime mover couples that banded together to purchase and save the building, and then beginning the restoration many years back.

I was invited but it would have meant giving up my day to get everything done tomorrow or getting home at about 1:00 AM.   I didn't feel like doing either

My parents and brother and sister in law have had season tickets at the Opera house for a number of years.  Maybe they know your DH's parents.
