George, what was the problem with your taxes?

A friend of mine has spent many hours recently on his taxes, only to find that there was a bug in his version of Turbo Tax. Ugh! Many agonizing hours spent while he tried to figure out what was wrong.

Good Friday is almost over!!   We reprise our Stations of the Cross at 7:30 along with Veneration for those who could not be there.  Gotta love drama in religion (the good kind, not the bad kind).  It's pretty amazing.

Glad you had a good trip, Jane. The cherry blossoms are very delicate and a few hours of wind or rain can wipe them out. There really is only about a week at most to view them at their best.

It turns out that I had entered information into a field that needed to be blank.  My mistake, but it was an easy fix. :)

I took three days this week as a staycation and it was great. Yesterday I was at the old Helms Bakery complex. They now have an old Helms truck there and are selling cookies and ice cream (?!) out of it. They are also putting in a cafe and bakery on the premises. It was announced maybe a year ago, but nothing actually took place. They're starting construction now. Great for those nostalgic for old LA.

Glad you got it straightened out. I've never heard of paying less taxes using the short form.

Once upon a time, there was a film music discussion list called "filmus-l".  I spent many years (and hours) reading and posting, posting and reading, ranting and raving, and chiding the churlish.

Once, I even wrote a song lyric.  Someone had started a thread about RKO doing a musical version of "Citizen Kane" and had some fun with song titles.

I then suggested they could move on to "King Kong" and said I already had a song for the climactic climb up the Empire State Tower Building.

I found it today and here it is:

Up, Up, Up! (Empire State Building version)

14-Hundred Fifty-Four feet in the air
He carries me up in search of his lair
The sweat off his palms drenches my being
No chance of rescue, no chance of fleeing.

Lord know the stains won't come out of this dress;
(This wind is so strong my hair is a mess)
Strange, but I'm having an odd sort of stirring....
Oh! What is that sound? Do I hear a whirring?

Don't put me down, Kong, don't be a dope,
Don't let me go, Kong, I'm your only hope.
Choppers are circling, don't overextend,
You're swatting at killers who'll win in the end

(Bloodcurdling Fay Wray scream)

Down, down, down to your doom
Why must this tale end in such gloom?
My hero is coming, I'm tattered and pale
Oh, Darn! Look at that! I've torn a nail.

Not exactly...doing the fix was easy, but finding out what I actually needed to fix was not!  I got an e-mail with some kind of code message, and I eventually had to google the message to see what other people might have posted about that.  A co-worker suggested that and it's what worked.

Fortunately, I don't have to pay, but I'll be able to get more back with the standard deduction than itemizing.

Thank you to all of you for the good wishes, both yesterday and today.  Yes, tonight is opening night.  The less said about last evening, the better.  I came home very angry.  I am over it now.  I am hoping for a successful opening night.

Welcome Back, DR Jane!

Thanks.

We met a friend of Craig's & her family while viewing the Cherry Blossoms.  The in-laws were heading to Tacoma the next day to visit their son.

You should have told them to go see LITTLE WOMEN.

And I do like a proper Old Fashioned.

I used to prefer an improper Old Fashion!  They were always much more fun to drink.

I just came across a receipe for "Old Fashioned Potato Salad."  It says that it is very good to serve with chili.  I would never think to have potato (or potatoe) salad with chili.  I have had it with crackers or with corn bread; and when I was in grade school, once a week our lunch menu had chili and cinnamon rolls.  But potato Salad?
