I will have to do some thinking on the TOD.

Continued vibes for MR BK and The Situation.

The Book With Names is the title of my new mystery.

We had a nice rehearsal last night - the show looked okay!  Thank goodness for my leads.

There was some consternation among the populace because the name of Isaiah was spelled incorrectly on the sign carried by the Save a Soul Mission Band.

A prominent church in the Twin Cities caused consternation recently as well, by misspelling the word "resurrection" in their splashy Easter newspaper advertisement.

Re the notes:   Interesting about the upright pianos.  Is that what will be used instead of keyboard and amp?  I'm dying to know what the music is going to consist of and sound like, but I'm sure that's something BK won't be talking about yet.

Would love to have seen the designer run-through!  As rough as it may have been, it would have been totally fascinating.

Edit:  Had something else to say on that subject.  What was it?

Oh, I know what it was.  That reminded me, and I hadn't thought about this in years, but in the first show I was involved in at the little regional theater where I'm most active, I played A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum on an old spinet piano (the ubiquitous Baldwin Acrosonic) behind the set, assisted by a friend who filled in, like the proverbial octopus, on a small consumer-grade keyboard and an array of percussion instruments.  Talk about amateur hour!  But the show was good, and we managed to pull it off musically.  More or less.  I wonder if the VHS copy of that still plays.  Note to self...

Wondering if any DRs picked up this set of B budget film noirs from Warner Archives. It is a dandy bunch of enjoyable films put out by Allied Artists in the 1950s. I have been enjoying them quite alot!

My trip to Portland on Saturday to see the 1954 version of Godzilla was splendid.

I went up a bit early and prowled around town for awhile, visiting some antique/retro shops and then haveing lunch at the Lauralwood Pub and Grill where I had a tasty mound of buscuits and gravy (although there was far too much bisucuit, and not enough gravy for it all). I was unable to interest any of my buddies to go along..well, my friend Ron wanted to, but he had to work.

Since childhood I have seen Godzilla at least three dozen times, but I always enjoy it. This was the original Japanese release...no Raymond Burr insert shots (although I love that version as well). As I grow older I tend to appreciate this film more and more, noticing how it is not just about a big monster smashing Tokyo, but how people react to a threat whether it keeping secrets, fighting each other, political tugs of war, etc. It is still a relevant film and has some amazing performances.

Thankfully, the audience was respectfull of the film. Last time Godzilla played in Portland, many in the audience thought they were supposed to hoot and holler and make fun of it. However, this first movie is quite a serious piece. But some audience members were not able to put the film in context and instead derided the acting style and old fashioned (non CGI) special effects.

I was pleased that this was no repeated.

And I was surprised at the size of the audience. This was at the old Hollywood Theatre and the place was packed! This despite it was the 3rd of 4 days the film was being shown there. I was glad I arrived early, otherwise I'd have ended up with a lousy seat.

I like the original GOJIRA film as well.  I only have it on DVD, haven't seen it on the big screen.

Those movies look interesting DR MBARNUM, but if I never see another Beverly Garland film, my life will still be complete.

Did you read my review of the BG biography in Scarlet?  You might have gotten the electronic version, I don't know if the print version of this edition will EVER come out.

SUDDEN DANGER is really quite entertaining, JRand, despite Bev. I figured it would be my least favorite, but it was probably one of the top 3.

Haven't seen an issue of Scarlet in quite some time, unfortunately.

Got about nine hours of sleep, I think.  Up now and will go eat at some point soon, then write liner notes until I have to leave for our five o'clock rehearsal.
