I can't believe it is already Friday.  I have way too much to do before I host my book group on Tuesday.  I also have a ton of food leftover now that our company has gone-not sure it will still be good to serve on Tuesday.  The bean salad might be but I need to cook.  At least I won't have to do much cleaning, just the guest bathroom and washing the sheets and towels.

Your book group is sleeping over?

I never read LIL' ABNER when I was growing up.  I, also, thought it was too wordy.

So, for the past 3 weeks or so, my mom and dad and I have been planning where we were going on Mother's day.  I asked my brother to see if they wanted to be included.  He said it sounded good until today when he basically took over the plans and said that they wanted to take mom and dad out to another place- that mom doesn't even like.  They do this to me every time we have plans for a holiday. And the changes are always last minute. I told him it was fine, but it really bugged me.

The more I thought about it the madder it made me. So I mowed the yard and vacuumed the house to burn up the energy.  Then I realize the easiest answer is for me to go tomorrow instead of Sunday.   The weather is better for travel tomorrow and it will give me Sunday to get my chores done before work on Monday. I really am fine with this.  I can have a nice day with mom and dad and my brother and his family can have a nice day with them and mom gets a two day mother's day.  Win. Win.

Today is my sister's 60th.  I gave up on dealing with her a while back, but did send her a fb message saying Happy Birthday.   Her response in part was "Now that I'm 60, I've turned nice"   We'll see if it lasts until 60 and one day.

She's apparently written a civil war era novel set in Missouri.  I'm honestly very interested in reading it.  It could actually be quite good.

I think you have come up with a great solution.  Unfortunately it does nothing to correct your brother's behavior.

I stopped at the store today, an when I got out of the car I saw these huge black clouds coming in from the west.  I said to this woman also going into the store, that the rain would arrive about the time we finished shopping.  Sure enough, I finished shopping and almost got to the door when the whole sky ripped open.  I looked at it for a couple of minutes, turned around, and went to Starbuck's for a large coffee.

No.  I think she's written some stories, but she's never shared them with me.  My brother says she's really a pretty good writer.  She's studied the civil war for years.  She was an English teacher briefly and despite the fact she wishes I had never been born and used to remind me of that on a regular basis (apparently she won't now that she's 60, lol) I really think she may have a knack for writing and I'm really looking forward to reading it.

I agree with TCB. I'm having similar problems with my sisters and I'm getting ready to have to get medieval on them.

I used to be so creative when I was younger.  Now I wish l could write a book or a play, but the well seems to be dry.

Made it through the first two hours of The Sorrow and the Pity. There is some excellent footage from the war in the movie that makes it fascinating. But 4 hours is a little long.

I know, but since it's usually his wife or daughter that doesn't want to do what I want to do - not to be mean, they just have other ideas- it won't ever change.  It's just one of those things.

I'm glad I thought of a way around it. He has a lot on his plate.  His father in law is in a nursing home there and doesn't remember anything or anyone at this point.  He lives in the same town as my parents who call him three or four times a day either asking the same things or obsessing about things.  He's also a sole practitioner now that my dad has retired and he's a magistrate who the police wake up at all hours of the night to do search warrants etc.

Just did my first serious attempt at creative writing to go with my thesis. I need more work at it. Much more work at it.

Oh, and he's had several heart attacks, a quadruple by-pass and is just recovering from surgery on his right wrist and elbow to repair nerve issues he's had since the bypass.  He's got to do the other wrist and elbow next fall.   So, as mad as I get, I'd rather vent that another way and find a different solution.   So, I now have a yard mowed- and rain predicted the next two days, a house that has been vacuumed and the dishes are done.  I'm not mad anymore, lol
