Sort of pre-publicity photo to meet the deadlines of the weekly print papers.

Thanks DR SINGDAW and DR JOHN G - they are nice girls even if they can't dance.

They're strippers. Are they supposed to be able to dance?

Posted on Facebook from an audience member this evening:

Bravo to Bruce Kimmel, his musical director Wayne Moore, Choreographer Kay Cole & the utterly sensational cast of LIL' ABNER which opened a ridiculously short run tonight at LA City College. This is the best production I've ever seen of this show. Every member of the cast is stellar & two are absolute rip-the-roof off show stoppers (John Massey's Marryin'Sam & Barry Pearl's Gen'l Bullmoose.) Musical comedy deserves superlatives like "exuberant" and "joyous" and "adorable" and "delightful" and "knockout"...This production deserves all these and more. As an added treat, sat with a group that included the legendary Richard Sherman and chatted with him before the show & at intermission. Also saw my darling pal Gilmore Rizzo who I never see enough!

BK, Congratulations on the successful opening night!  May the rest of the (sadly, short) run go as well!! :D

For DR Ginny's and perhaps others' viewing pleasure, I'm in the second row on the aisle stylishly sporting a dark baseball cap.

These webcasts sound good.  As in any large church, there's a lot of reverb, so it's nice to hear both piano and vocals with more clarity.  And they're really good with the discreetly mounted video cameras there.  These are more nicely edited than some TV broadcasts.

I'm loving the song "Some Far Away Someone", whose opening phrase is maddenlingly reminding me of some other song I love.

Do I need vibes for tomorrow's ROBERTA day! We finished Act one this evening at 7:00 and called it assembled and ready for consumption. Tomorrow morning we begin Act two. I thought we'd have finished the whole shebang by this evening, but it's a real bitch to assemble: dialogue tracks from NYC and Dublin, overdubs form NYC, orchestra and singers in Dublin, and it has to be pieced together like a jigsaw puzzle.  Judy and I didn't ever expect a fourth day would be necessary, so she's feeling pressured, and when she's unhappy, I suffer.  We had one brier tense yelling fit, but she calmed down when she realized I was right that we hadn't edited a piece of dialogue, and it sounds very good/

The only problem is, we can't get back to it until after June 16 when she's back from recording about fur different project, from music for solo viola to the Paragpn Ragtime Orchestra to that Sondheim piano project.

So, vibes are needed that we accomplish a great deal tomorrow. Please!

Best opening night? FINIAN'S RAINBOW on Broadway!

Jane, in SECOND WATCH, J D Beaumont is haunted by some memories of his days in Viet Nam; and his guilt for not following up on the fiance of his platoon leader who was killed.  The fiance is my cousin, Bonnie Abney.  The platoon leader was her real fiance who was killed in Viet Nam.

I just watched the webcast, and it's a lot of silliness, but so much fun. They sound great, but i'm puzzled: I swear they are all singing "I mak hay when the sun shines" and the joke is "when the moon shines." Oy!

Weston and last week's Arlo Hill are now my three favorite choices, along with Ben Davis, for leading baritone. And I adore Sara Jean Ford; I've loved her and Meggie since FINIAN'S RAINBOW, and I'm so happy she could be on the Victor Herbert Songs. Michael Marcotte and Tm McDevitt are two of my ROBERTA Collegians.

And now to bed. Back to Riverdale tomorrow morning.  Please keep them vibes coming!
