...My issue with dropping the land line is that we both can't get on the phone at the same time.

DR Jane, Rob will often call my cell phone or Richard's and ask to be put on speaker when wants to talk to both of us about something.  Like when he and Mary Linda became engaged (good) or when his company went out of business and he lost his job (bad).

Speaker phones are hard for the single caller to hear anything.  I am ok on my end but not when someone else uses them.  I am pushing more to use skype or facebook video but only for the boys, not when friends or a business call comes in.

When the day finally comes that we move I expect we will not get a land line.

I may have to make a bold decision for Kritzerland soon - as I predicted to every gluttonous label four years ago, if you keep going down your path you are going to kill this for everyone - and so it has come to pass, with every label's sales down (save for the biggest titles) and that includes us.  We are struggling and when my big online dealer told me his needs for our latest two titles, I told him that after those I may reassess how I'm doing things.  What that means is, that perhaps beginning with our next title I will only make our titles available at Kritzerland exclusively.  That will not sit well with my dealers, but at this point I have to think boldly - I have led the way in many ways with the other labels, so much so that one of them regularly and routinely rips off the way we do our press releases and even the way in which I respond to guesses on the film music board - it's funny and sickening all at the same time.  Get your own routine, say I.

At the beginning, Kritzerland was unorthodox - I was the first label to stop selling to brick-and-morter stores so that I would never have returns.  Guess what?  Soon thereafter, all the soundtrack labels save for Varese also stopped.  Well, my guess is if I try this new thing and it works for me, that everyone will soon follow suit because none of us can survive with these numbers.

So BK, do your big online dealers want fewer copies than before or more copies?

DR John G. - you are so wise and caring!  That was the perfect thing to say.

Glad the outcome was favorable. And your parents are now the wiser.

The rehearsal went very well - much better than it had a right to. I still have a lot of studying to do, but it will be OK.

I am stepping in for an absent soloist with a choir next week at an outdoor choral festival in a park, hosted by the local NPR station.
Their program happens to be sung in 13 languages.      :P

The online dealers are taking less and less - that's the problem - and if it continues, I just think I'm better off doing exclusive releases on our site alone - make more money that way and just have to educate people that that's the way it's going to be.  It's a dangerous gambit but at this point it may be one I'm willing to make.

Thank you, all.  In talking with my sister this evening, it turns out that my nephew told my dad the same thing last night. Hopefully, he will take it to heart.

She had some different ideas on the phone situation, so we'll all likely be discussing that more.

Watching a really well-shot video of Newsies. Wish the good camera work had been used on a better show.

I once got to hear Maya Angelou read her work. Packed house here in town at one of the universities. She made everyone feel as if she were reading just to them. She was almost as good a performer as she was a writer.

I read all of her autobiographical books and her cookbook, but not all of her poetry.  I think my favorite was "Singin' and Swingin' and Gettin' Merry Like Christmas," which was largely about her touring Europe in a production of "Porgy and Bess."

Sounds like you've thought this through and it certainly does make sense.

It's a scary move, but it sounds sensible. I don't know when I last bought a new CD at a store or when I last bought a new CD through any store but amazon. The rest have been direct order from the record label.
