THE DAY OF THE FATHERS
« on: June 15, 2014, 12:29:34 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written on Father's Day, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they don't celebrate Father's Day - only MOOther's Day.

For yesterday's Topic of the Day, Cilla posted this poem:

Quote
I never saw a purple cow
I never hope to see one
But I can tell you anyhow
I'd rather see than be one

That reminds me of this that I learned as a kid (of course):

Birdie, birdie, in the sky
Please don't turdie in my eye.
Aren't you glad elephants don't fly?

Today, the family is gathering at my parents' house for some Father's Day festivities.  Tomorrow is my mom's birthday, and we're going out to one of her favorite restaurants.  Next week is my parents' anniversary...their 50th!  It's a big week and a half for celebrating in our family!

This will be the first Father's Day without one. But I am flying up to Montreal to spend time with my Mother and family. I will be there for a week.

Isn't it amusing when someone posts something specifically so it will show up on your news feed and you can read it?

How can someone be sure you will see it on your newsfeed unless they tag you? They can post something wanting you to see it. But I don't go through all of the posts in my newsfeed and I can't imagine that most people do.

Good morning, all!  I did not go to Toyland. I have to be at a cabaret performance this afternoon at 6:30, and that's enough running about for one day.  I honestly do not like cabaret performances much, but I like the musical director and this may lead to a job. I need one.

The damned PBS drive is now on its second week so I had no Britcms this week. I did watch two DVDs the Royal Ballet in The Sleeping Beauty and an episode of the BBC mystery series VERA. My other Netflix item was defective, so I reported it and I will send it back in tomorrow's post along with several tax payments.

We had 4 inches of rain in the storm last night!  I intentionally avoided going to the basement last night and slept instead.  This morning I went down there and the floor is damp and I can see where the water came through but found it's way to the drain.  So, I avoided bailing water.  I'll get out the big fan and get it going in a few minutes.  Water hasn't come in since we had a really heavy rain a few years ago.  Luckily I put down carpet squares and didn't recarpet.  it won't be hard to clean up

Sunday.

I used to like movies in the 1950's when military men were have big meetings in the Pentagon and out the window one could see the Washington Monument or the Capital Building....even though they are MILES apart......or vice versa.....

We had a sell out +2 audience and a fine show with of course some technical issues, but it was much fun.  We also had a strike that lasted only ONE HOUR - and everything was done.

So the G/D show is no more.....and I have some time off from driving to the theatre every day!

I have to say that, as a person who doesn't use Facebook, this is all Greek to me and just sounds insane.  :)

(To be specific, my Facebook account, after some three years (I think), is still only there for the benefit of one tiny purpose and one tiny group of people -- my high school class -- and though I will occasionally look at something that sounds interesting, I truly am otherwise a person without Facebook.  And this is still working for me.)

Yes!  Or not necessarily the military.  Just about any group of Washington types had that window.

Nah, I'm not letting it get to me and I wanted to clean up the basement anyway
