Sorry I've been E and T.  Work has been crazy busy and I've been into baseball this week.

That's the best Elaine Stritch story I've ever heard!

Here's the photo I've been waiting for from my cousin's wedding last month.  Left to right, my niece Laura, my sister, me, cousin Dan from Japan, cousin Perry (groom), bride Pam, Dan & Perry's paternal cousin Karen, Rob, Mary Linda.

What a lovely photo!

I knew I couldn't commit to sitting down and watching it tonight, but I gave myself a li'l sneak preview of CARNIVAL IN FLANDERS, and it looks like a delightful story and film.

I'm surprised that no one's mentioned this, yet...Eli Wallach, veteran character actor, dead at 98.

Wow...98 very long and continually productive years!

He was amazing in Baby Doll. That scene where he rides the rocking horse is just so, well, Tennessee Williams.

My brother just returned from visiting his daughter in NY.  They saw "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder" which my brother is now raving about.  Did anyone see this?  A "search" didn't show any comments.

DR Jane--I saw it twice and loved it!  I'm pretty sure I mentioned it.   One actor, Jefferson Mays, plays 8 characters.  And the other lead, Bryce Pinkham, is great too as are the supporting cast members, including Jane Carr, who memorably played Mary MacGregor in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.    I can't recommend it highly enough!

I have a bootleg video, but I haven't watched it yet. No time. Maybe this weekend.

The rainfall has kicked my allergies into overdrive. I've got to take a Benedryl and hopefully get some sleep.

Good night, all.

I've seen so many baseball games this week that the song I couldn't get out of my head today was The Start Spangled Banner

The saddest thing about Jacques Bergerac's passing is that no one could understand his last words.....at least I could never understand a word he said.

I doubt that Mikey cared.

That's a lovely family photo, Ginny.

Thirty-five more pounds and I might see if I can get a family photo.

DR JRand63, there's no storm cellar?

After seven hours, I got the damned section on the Battle of the Marne down to about 480 words. I am waiting for the Man from Philadelphia to complain about the word count. I'm counting every word I will throw his direction.

I honestly believe none of it is necessary in notes on ROBERTA, and this is why he drives me up the wall. I did find one episode in the battle on September 7,1914, both moving and funny. The Marne is a tributary of the Seine, and the battle took place close to Paris since the Germans were trying to take the City. The German forces were close to breaking through General Maunoury's French forces. They were only saved by the arrival of 6,000 French reserve infantry troops ferried from Paris in six hundred taxicabs.

Oh Marne, I thought you meant Marnie. That was the Battle between Alfred Hitchcock and Tippi Hedren.
