The cafeteria near my desk stopped the really bad Indian food station they had (in which the food was made by people who had never tasted Indian food before) and they've opened a barbecue stand.

I'm curious, but not enough to brave the long line that's greeted its opening day. I'll wait to hear how the brisket is before placing an order.

Hopefully, being where they are, they have some idea of what it needs to taste like.

But you never know.  For years, you couldn't get a Chicago hot dog anywhere at O'Hare.

DR Druxy, After reading she lost everything, including her cats, I'm glad she has her dogs.  Where is she now and are her dogs with her?

Thinking about her cats is very upsetting.  I wish her vibes of comfort!

She's staying with her sister.

I'm up, I'm up - finally a great night's sleep of nine and a half hours - but now, of course, the entire morning is gone and I need to catch up.

Last night I finally watched, for the very first time, the 1939 HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME. What a magnificent film! Why have I avoided it all of these years???

I am now eager to see the silent Lon Chaney version and then the 1960s Pakistani version.

I will probably pass on the Demi Moore/Jason Alexander verions, however.

The first version I ever saw was the Gina Lollabrigida/Anthony Quinn version, which I loved.

That was my first, too.  I think it was the "known", current one when we wuz kids.  It was years before I saw the Chaney or Laughton.

DR MBarnum, someone told me there's an interesting Pakastani DRACULA, too.  Do you know it?

Yes, it is titled Zinda Lash. It is from the 1960s and is pretty good, as I recall.

My stepdaughter lost her house in the Oregon wildfire.

She was able to get her dogs out, but lost her cats and everything else.

So, sad.

I'm so sorry. That is horrible.

Paul McCartney is coming to San Antonio for a benefit. Tickets are in the $1,000-$3,000 range except for a laughably few $250 seats.

Even those of us who usher were told we would have to sign up and then names would be drawn. You also have to usher so many times before that.

I had lunch with Arlo at Luke's Lobster, which is a block away from my apartment. I had a fantastic lobster roll.  Now i want to try their crab and shrimp rolls.

That is good.  I gather her sister is in the area.  I hope they are far enough away.   We can see the haze from the fire.

Thanks DR CHAS SMITH and DR ELMORE......I of course was only working one day a week, but it still makes me a little sad.  I have been there since 2006.....my sister Molly started working there under the previous owner in the late 90's....and my sister bought the store in 2007.

I am officially OUT OF WORK with nothing on the horizon for the first time since 1994.

I have spent most of the morning fighting the Trojan War.  Yes, dear friends, my computer has a virus.  In spite of the fact that I have just about every spy ware known to man or machine.  I noticed a few days ago that the computer was acting rather wonky, but I was not feeling up to thinking about it.  This morning it was acting very strange, so I pulled up a PC Anit-Mal Ware device that I had never used.

Twenty minutes later it had brought up a list of garbage and cookies, plus one Zumo(?) and one Trojan.  The program suggested I ignore the Zumo, and quarantine the Trojan.  So, I hit CLEAN and off it went.  A few long minutes later it said that all was good.  A minute later, the damn thing started another scan.  When that finished, all the garbage and cookies were gone, but Zumo and Trojan were still there.  So I hit CLEAN again and it came back fixed.  A few minutes later it started to scan again..............  Well, you get the idea.

Finally I switched the action from quarantine to delete; and now three times later I think it is gone.

My sister loved the original "Dune" movie...I think.  I know she loved the books (at least, until Frank Herbert died).  I may have to get "Jodorowski’s Dune" for her birthday in September.  She might be interested...or she might not.  I think it sounds pretty interesting.

George, did you know that Kyle is from Yakima.  He did a show at Tacoma Actor's Guild while he was waiting for them to release DUNE.

Not sure if the polar vortex has officially arrived yet, but it is 60 degrees here!

I hope it ends soon.  It is because of your polar vortex that we are having this heat wave in the Northwest.

Back from a chili, cheese and onion omelet that had no cheese in it - I should have sent it back, but alas.  Finally finished choosing songs.  Whew!

I'm really looking forward to this CD.  It'll be especially fascinating after having read of all these fixes.  I just (cough) acquired a (cough) copy of the PC score.  If it's as challenging as it sounds (and I don't disbelieve that for a minute), it will be highly amusing to sit down and have a tough go at it one of these days.

Monday (late) afternoon greetings!  I slept until 10:30 this morning, which is later than I ever sleep.  The weekend must have finally caught up with me.  After a bit of puttering I went to visit Mom to deliver some ice cream and wedding cake and to tell her about the festivities.

I'm loving this polar vortex. It's 71 right now and will be down to 49 degrees tonight.  I've got my Explorers sweatshirt on and will be heading out to see a baseball game.   They do serve food there, including barbeque....maybe I'll get some pulled pork nachos.  They are really pretty yummy.
