Hi Penny.  Your sublet sounds nice.

I should see you in NY.  I'm still planning to go the second week of October-not that I have made my plans yet.

Music, music, music!

What did I play lately?

La Callaway (Liz) singing Loesser!

Tommy Steele in SOME LIKE IT HOT.

Some British Light Music.

Maureen McGovern singing the Bergmans.

And the Rhino soundtracks of Summer Stock and In The Good Old Summertime, with the one and only Garland, as well as the soundtracks to Broadway Melody of 1940 and Rosalie.......

Wow, Penny. Great news about the sublet! Congrats.

By the time you get here we hope the lovely and charming Mr. Elmore will be up and about or at least up so that a large and fulsome gathering of Kimlets will take over New York. Jane, Penny, Larry, me, Anthony (our proxy) and others who might be in the neighborhood.

I'm getting excited.  Ben I also haven't forgotten you promised me a CD of your radio interviews when I'm in NY.  I'm also looking forward to meeting Anthony and wishing I could also see his doll houses.  Larry says the nicest things about both of you.

There's a great big beautiful tomorrow
Shinin' at the end of ev'ry day
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow
And tomorrow's just a dream away

Man has a dream and that's the start
He follows his dream with mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true for you and me.

You know, folks, I've worked for that restaurant for almost a year -- it  was called The Land Grille Room then -- and that was my worst experience as a Walt Disney World Cast Member!

Hated every moment of it and felt useless!

Because that restaurant rotates, as an employee you end up walking A LOT. Besides, the AC system was then defective and it was so darn hot to work there!

I had Regis Philbin and Disney Legend -- animator -- Marc Davis and his wife as guests once...

Ah.... memories!

Oh.... and at that time they did not have the Disney Characters at the restaurant; the only character then might have been me!

Could not stand serving breakfast; so much to bring to the table for such small tips!
And we had to change table clothes every time one would "turn" his/hers table!

First days were like this site tonight: NO CUSTOMERS!

Ends of weeks were pretty tough, i tell you!

But then one learns how to swallow one's pride -- favourite expression of one of my female supervisors there! -- when one works for the Mouse!!

Oh.... one of my (French) colleagues was confused by some expression said supervisor used to abuse at meetings before each shift!
He came to me and said: "Why does she keep saying "Festival!"...

She was not saying "festival", but her twang turned "First of all" into that! LOL!

DR MattH, I saw the end of Joey (I was expecting the Apprentice). I can tell you how the show ended if you want.

Yes, I'd love to know. When the cable box turned off, Joey had just found out that the cute neighbor he had been flirting with was married and was going to pick her husband up at the airport.

Had an eclectic day of TV watching once I got home. A couple of ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE episodes, Basil Rathbone in TERROR BY NIGHT, SHADOW OF THE THIN MAN (dubbed to a DVD-R), and then MEDICAL INVESTIGATION's second episode tonight. Again, a fast paced TV medical mystery melodrama (3 Ms).

I should definitely get to POINT BREAK tomorrow, and I got a couple more DVDs in the mail today to add to the stack (but no Hitchcocks yet! Argh!)

I just got back from a semi-social gathering having to do with the WGA. I made my way up Mulholland Dr. - rounding the curves in the dark - having no idea where this place was. Finally, I figured out I must be in the vicinity, so I parked by the side of the road, took out my flashlight and walked along the mountain road until I found the place - which was at the top of a big hill. I thought at any moment David Lynch was going to pop out fron behind a bush and yell "Action!"... So after all this trouble, I arrived, listened to a few conversations and left. I think I lasted 15 minutes. (Oh - I had two rice crackers, some nice grapes and some Camembert. And a bottle of water.)

This afternoon I saw the second half (missed the beginning) of TRIBUTE TO A BAD MAN. Really quite good. Starred James Cagney as a blonde cowboy - directed by Robert Wise. I must look up the screenwriter. Some wonderful dialogue.

...Music - Miklos Rozsa; cinematography - Robert Surtees.
Not too shabby. And a really unconventional leading lady in Irene Papas. And Vic Morrow - who could've been playing Brando's long lost twin.
