Richard took some stuff to the Middletown Historical Society to donate and brought home lunch from the new barbecue jernt on Central Avenue.  Yummy pulled pork sandwich!

It feels like Wednesday.  And, as it turns out, it is Wednesday.

Fancy that.

I have ordered myself a tomato press.  I'm gonna puree some of the fabulous organic tomatoes I can get in a local market.

I need some fresh tomato sauce!

I was sorry to read about "The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes" on Blu ray not being up to snuff.  I just got my copy yesterday and already removed the shrinkwrap.

Sigh.

DR Elmore, how quickly does the Library of Congress get to the task of cataloging collections like this once it's all received?

Isn't it faster to just throw 'em up against a wall?

I wonder what else you could put through such a press...

I have to say I was stunned by what I saw of the collection as I walked into the room for a quick look-see.  Stunned.  And all I was seeing was his collection of classical scores.  And not just any old scores, but all of the complete (or what looked like it could be complete) scholarly "critical" editions of Mozart, Schubert, etc., that I'd ever heard of, and more.  And probably hundreds of other various and sundry individual scores and books.  Operatic, symphonic, you name it.  I am feeling a bit faint just thinking about what was there on my drop-in three days ago, and now isn't.

I'm up, I'm up - nine and a half hours of blessed sleep.  I think I'll try not to eat before dinner.  Jogging may be difficult in this heat.

BK question for the day:

What are some film soundtracks you would love, love, love (that is 3 loves) to release on CD (if you were able to), but wouldn't because you fear the sales would not be there?

Well, Billy Goldenberg has done some wonderful stuff, but he doesn't sell at ALL.  Same with John Morris.  So, certainly those.  And there are things that I would release that would have low sales IF they weren't expensive.

I have no idea. It all depends on the importance of the person's collection.

And likely McGlinn didn't leave any money for the curating of the collection, which also probably has an impact.

Benny Goodman left all his papers to Yale, but refused to allocate any money to maintain the collection, so the cataloging had to be left for some graduate or PhD student to do, for free. Very short-sighted, if you ask me.

I bet "Young Frankenstein", the score, would sell out.

I have pre-ordered the final set from Acorn.  They put out the Blu rays of Poirot.  Amazon will get them in early November, but Acorn is promising an early September release when ordered through them.

WhyIoughta....

Grapes.

Scuppernongs.

Plums.

And, possibly, persimmons.

But I only want it for puree of tomatoes.

Apparently walking poles are a "thing" now.

I have seen quite a few folks trekking around with them on city sidewalks.

Richard has a couple of sets of Exerstriders.  Someone always wants to talk to him about them when they see them in use.

Good morning, all.

Glad you got to see Joan Baez, George, and that the concert was fun.

Thanks, John.  It was. :)

For fans of the BBC television series Broadchurch: news on the upcoming October adaptation for American television: Gracepoint
http://www.twincities.com/entertainment/ci_26194387/producers-gracepoint-differs-from-u-k-version?source=email

Hmm...that'll be interesting.  I'll watch it...with an open mind, even...but these English-to-America remakes tend not to be well done, or they're overdone. :P

DR John I didn't even think about the possibility of the car being totaled.  Lately I have seen an advertisement to call a number if the insurance company says your car is totaled and you disagree.
