Been on the phone for most of the afternoon - that's how I learned about Robin Wiliams. It's all over Facebook now, of course, with the usual posts that are more about the people making them than Mr. Williams. Suicide is difficult for people to comprehend. I have come to understand it and those who've read my first memoir will know why - if that's the way people need to finally be at peace, then all we can do is try to understand it from that perspective. He was a very funny man and apparently a very nice person. I ran into him at TV auditions back before he got Mork and Mindy.

The rain eased up and Keith has picked up the mess that fell. There were gardening tools, etc on the table that fell.

UPS then arrived with a delivery. As Keith was walking back into the house with the box (we usually walk out to get our packages) there was a big flash of lightening.

We briefly lost power. I hope we don't lose it again.

To me there is nothing quite like a movie theater. I love it when no one is sitting right next to me and I'm in the darkness and can just let myself be taken away by the film, That doesn't happen on the tv in the living room

I grew up knowing first hand the fear when someone you love attempts or commits suicide. It also teaches you to think that suicide is the way out when life is difficult. I comprehend it too well, I simply cannot accept it. The pain it leaves behind is too great.

I've also know many people who almost succeeded and then found a way to live happy lives.

I am suddenly thinking of the Williams movie "What Dreams May Come" about a man searching the afterlife for his wife. He has gone to Heaven but his wife was in limbo having committed suicide.

I found it extremely depressing. I was on the phone with my sister when she was going through chemo and her boyfriend had rented the movie to watch. First I told her not to watch it and then had her put him on the phone. He had already seen the movie and kept saying "it has a happy ending". The next day my sister called me back and said they had to turn it off she got so depressed.

Very sad news about Robin Williams. I think Popeye was my favorite. I also really liked him in Garp.

I would have liked to have seen his "Godot" with Steve Martin.

I've started watching "Le Week-end" with Jim Broadbent and Lindsay Duncan. Beautifully acted, even if some of their bickering cuts a little too deep.

I know from the previews that they reenact the Madison from Band of Outsiders (Bande a Part), which is one of my favorite scenes of all in films.
