Hope it all works out the way you want it to, DR Elmore!

All I want is for the NY State government not to drag me off to jail for evasion.

Well, I don't know, meals are included.

And there is medical care!

I have this medical deferment from jury duty in September, but i can find nothing on the cockamamie summons - and there are phone numbers, web pages, and a lot of other crap - about what to do with a letter from one's doctor. The web page tells me to go to my country for further information. And there is nothing helpful there. I am very frustrated.

I'd call the phone number and ask.

There are no humans at the other end; all press this for that, enter dates you can serve, only push button info.

Oh I hate that~!

SO   I decided to take the afternoon off, even though I knew I had set something up for 4:00.   I went home did some yard work and then started to feel guilty so about 3:30 I came back to the office and.....you guessed it, the 4:00 didn't show up

Man, I just got a craving for a Tuna salad sandwich. All I need is the tuna and the bread.   I think I'll stop at the store on the way home.

DR elmore I hope receipt of your letter needed to be signed.

I was able to scan my letter & send my request through email.  I then received the following email response:

Thank you!.

Your request to be excused is granted.

Rob helped me with Mom's grocery shopping today and we delivered it together.  She was glad to see him.

Good morning, all.

Weird morning so far. Boss is sharing stories of how his chandelier came crashing down into the dining room table at 5:55 this morning before anyone was awake. And only he, the cat and the dog went to investigate. Cat and dog, however, were not going into the room until Mike did.

Ghosts. Plain and simple.

That's why the cat and dog wouldn't go in there!

Exactly my thinking!

Last night, after I went to bed, my computer turned on.

Twice. It always freaks me out when it happens.

I need to set up my laptop to see if someone's trying to leave me a message. There's no way my Mac will stay on long enough for a ghost to settle down to communicating.  I think the laptop might work but the lack of a keyboard might confuse the ghost(s). There are definitely more than one in this apartment.

This week, I got a whistler. There's the lady who speaks German or some language that's not English, French, or Spanish, the man who might be my dad's spirit, the neighbor below me who hanged himself, and now the whistler.

I just made tuna salad, following my Aunt Dorothy's recipe: celery, sweet relish, onion, chopped hardboiled egg, tuna and mayo. I'll be living on that until next Wednesday, when the social security arrives.

Every time one particular poster (JE), who thinks he invented Brecht and Weill, posts on Facebook, I wish he were playing piano and I could slam the lid on his hands.

Had a nice visit with Juliana - we didn't run the show, just talked through it and made one tiny addition to reflect she now plays Jasmine at the Disney park.

Picked up one package.  I got two Ormandy CDs from overseas - one the RCA recording of the Rachmaninov Second symphony - I had the domestic pressing but I was guessing the Japanese would be better and it was - the US version was louder and harsh, the Japanese didn't have quite so much level and was warm and inviting.  I also got a disc of all mono Ormandy, including The Rite of Spring.  I'd already had that version on another CD compilation but the difference here is night and day - this mastering is much cleaner and more pleasant and I absolutely love this performance.  Also on the disc in mono are Petrouchka and The Firebird suites - I grew up loving the Ormandy mono of the latter so it's great to have it.

Good afternoon. We are under a flood watch. I would take it more seriously if it was raining, however.

God damn!

"Those Whom The Gods Would Destroy, They First Make Mad," and I swear the cosmos is out to get me in spades. I've waited a week for my physical therapy referral to come through, and it arrived, not for Brick-Run, my therapists for the past year, but for Theradymanamics at 150th and Broadway. Screw uyou, HIP! And of course this is the night the postman delivers the mail after 6:00, after the doctor's office is closed.

God double damn.

On my way home tonight I saw a sign for the law firm from out of town that wanted me to be their local branch about a year ago.  Interesting.  So they now have an office here.  Instead of looking at it as real competition, I think it's just another piece of the puzzle falling into place.  Now my clients would have another good firm to go to when I get the new job and close the office :)

At least it's not a firm you're considering for employment. I'm still pondering if I should return the Packard humanities institute call from February.

This is a very strange time for me.  I'm totally in limbo.  I stopped taking new cases.  I have plenty to do with my current client base and don't need to stress more.  I can't really hire someone to help at this point because I will  (hopefully) be saying "you no longer have a job" in a month of two, and if I get a temp, they'd just be taking messages for me which my machine can do. Plus limbo isn't a good time to train someone.

I'm very excited about the prospects for the future, and I know whether I get this or not, things will change. In what ways I don't exactly know. I have a very good feeling about whatever may come.  Just a little impatient to know what it will be
