Good morning. I checked the weather radar before I left the house this morning. There was no storm activity anywhere around. Something popped up, and I hiked in the rain. Luckily, the biggest part of the storm missed me, but the northern parts of the city are flooded.

I would think hiking in the rain would make you smile....or break into song and start dancing :)

I wouldn't want to be out in one of the BIG rains. But this was nice where I was.

We just had a nice HARD rain that lasted about 20 minutes.

Back from a sandwich and no fries or onion rings.  More DVDs have left the premises.  And more will be leaving later this week.  I'm just in that place where I don't want this crap anymore.

Had amazing meatloaf for lunch today with some potatoes tossed in blue cheese crumbles. Very happy boy.

It's amazing how many idiots on the imdb and even some actual critics call this miniseries a basically faithful remake, but "reimagined."
It is about as unfaithful a remake as has ever been done.  It is made up of nothing but add-ons by the terrible screenwriters.  One terrible plot addition after another, one horrifically awful piece of dialogue after another.  In the original novel, even though it's written in the third person, you never go away from Rosemary - it's all seen through her eyes, so you never have a scene with the Castevets in which she is not present.  It's a device I am very fond of, and all of my novels are written that way - third person but always the through the lead character's eyes with no scenes taking place away from them that the character is not privy to.  Writer's Block and Rewind are the obvious exceptions, but those both have conceits in the storytelling, which is why they are exceptions.

I managed to avoid the show.

Finally some good news

I start back to work tomorrow

No surgeries needed on my knee and shoulder.

Just the thyroid for the moment (results still to come)

Very good news, DR Mike. I'm happy for you.

TOD:

I'm going to answer this question in reverse.

What book was vastly improved in it's film version?

L.A. CONFIDENTIAL, possibly the best movie to come out of Hollywood in the last 20 years.

After I saw the film, I read the book...and it was terrible

The screenwriters certainly deserved the Oscar they won, but the film should have also taken the Best Picture award over TITANIC.

I like Druxy's question. I was recently watching the British DCI BANKS. I was surprised to find that it was based on novels by Peter Robinson. I'd read him some years ago, but something about his style just rubbed me the wrong way. I quite liked the adaptations, though.

I really disliked the Caroline Graham mystery I read, but enjoyed many of the MIDSOMER MURDERS episodes. In this case, though, I knew exactly what I disliked about the books.

Up and back from the dentist after too little sleep.

Since the area is so sore, they decided to postpone the prep for the crown until it has settled down, for which I was quite grateful. But the area is less sore today, and nothing else appears to be wrong, so that's good.

CONTINUED DENTAL VIBES!

On a happier note, I was notified by a friend that the "Roberta" recording is now up for pre-order on Amazon:

Good news! I look forward to hearing it.

We are waiting on pins and needles for news from DR CILLA LIZ!!!  The planets are in good order, there may be a couple of other hoops to jump through and be prepared if someone claims they didn't "have time" to get everything together....they did and it will not be allowed.

Thanks JRand.   There are a total of seven applicants.   I did a quick google and the 6 other applicants all applied for the last opening for this position and none of them got it.  That doesn't mean they aren't competition, they are, but that's ok.  The next hoop is an interview on the 29th at 10 am

This sounds very promising, indeed!  Continued vibes for the appointment.

I'm trying to take more steps and sit less at the computer.  I have been trying to comment less even though I'm reading.

Back to working outside.

I'm glad some of the fitness people have recognized that we don't have to exercise strenuously for it to be helpful. I, too, am on the computer too much. You have such a wonderful nature area right outside your door, too!

I've been trying to formulate a reply to DR MBarnum's admission he has never seen Rosemary's Baby!  I'm still speechless. It's too bad it didn't star Steve Reeves or Reg Parks. But then it would have gone from the A-list to the D-list of films.

If it had been "The Attack of Rosemary's Baby" or "Rosemary's 50-Foot Baby", he'd have been all over it many times.

Jeanne was right and I should have just written our host immediately - at some point we just completely went down.  Apparently these bot spammers from Russia and China are working overtime to crash sites, trying to cause havoc - they ultimately don't, but boy they do try - and I wish the people responsible a slow, painful death by rectal cancer.  And I MEAN it.
