Isn't that how they got Renee Zellweger and Marlon Brando to sing? Splicing it all together?

I hope that wasn't a TALL TALE in keeping with today's theme, DR Elmore -- because it's a helluva story!   :)

I had worked at the Drama Book Shop with a play reader for the Public theatre, and she thought Joe Papp was god. I was looking forward to meeting him, and hoping he'd like the chart and ask me to work on a show at the Public. He was a pig to everyone, although he told me he liked my chart, and I never heard from him again.

I hope folks will not take this as a criticism, because I do not mean it as such. But I am curious about something. I notice quite that quite a few fellow DRs are writing "lightening" when referring to a meteorological event.

I had always thought that it was "thunder and lightning," but "I am lightening the color of my jeans by adding bleach to the wash."

Perhaps it is a regional thing?

It is lightning and if I have written lightening I was simply wrong ;D

Hoping to start catching up on the weekend.  One unusual thing about the September 15 - October 15 tax season at this place is that while we will put in more hours on a regular weekday, weekend work seems not to be expected.  This is very different from other places I've been.

That sounds like a good thing, unless you were paid extra for the weekend work.

Today is National Hug Your Boss Day.

I ain't doing that. And it's because I like my boss. And I know he doesn't like hugs.

Larry, sorry to hear about the identity theft. It's always so galling! I hope it's resolved quickly and without any more inconvenience.

For a day and a half every time I tried to access Gmail I received the error message screen that says that the server was having problems and that's all they know. That's a long time for a server to be down. Then, this morning, I clicked on an old Google link and Whoa! It wasn't down at all!! ARRRGGHHH! I know what happened, but Google really ought to give accurate error messages! Damn programmers!

TOD:

I've been watching the British thriller HAPPY VALLEY, available on Netflix streaming. Very good, IMO, but definitely gritty and dark. It's written by Sally Wainwright, whose work I admire.

Bruce, I know you didn't think much of the American version of THE KILLING. I think you'd like this. The characters are all flawed, but come across stronger somehow. I'd be interested in your take.

BTW, one of the actresses had a familiar voice and mouth. Who is that? Then it dawned on me. I'm used to her in a very different context. Many DRs will know her, too.

Sorry Jeanne.  We haven't had any problems with gmail.

No, it was the URL for my menu bar that was incorrect. But Google's error message was VERY misleading. I don't have a lot of patience with poor software.

DR Ginny, you've mentioned that you have blood tests on a regular basis to accompany your blood thinning medication. I've heard that there's a device for home use that involves just a finger prick. Have you tried it? Know anything about it? It tests the INR.

TCB, just caught with last night's posts. Meet Me in Las Vegas is a light and breezy musical with DanDailey, a gorgeous Cyd Charisse and some fun musical numbers.

DR Jeanne, I used to have those tests when I was on Coumadin and, yes, my doctor tried to get me a home testing device.  The geniuses at the insurance company wouldn't approve paying for it, though.  When I switched from Coumadin to Xarelto last winter, they told me I don't need the tests anymore and there are no dietary restrictions.

I hadn't thought any further than the credit card thefy. If they want the rest of my lousy life, I hope it brings them the same joy it's brought me for the last year.

I had a scare tonight: I thought my Mac, which is due to be replaced, had finally died, and i was wondering how fast turning on the gas would take to finish me off.

This run of shitty luck has got to end before it kills me.
