I have cancelled plans to go to Burbank, California. Or maybe I already mentioned that.

Just not comfortable with depleting my savings at this time. Maybe by next spring I will have more in the bank.

You seemed to be leaning in that direction but I don't believe you confirmed it.

DR John, both books were Oprah pics:

Announced June 18, 1998
"It's not just a book, it's a life experience," trumpeted Oprah about her selection, I Know This Much Is True. Faithful readers familiar with her phenomenally successful book club read Wally Lamb's stunning debut novel, She's Come Undone, back in February, 1997.

I thought a lot of Oprah's selections back then were "victim books."

I think so.  I used to joke when I saw "oprah book" on the cover I shouldn't read it.  She got a lot of people reading who hadn't done so before.

It is especially disappointing as my friend Kenny was going to take me to meet director Maury Dexter, whose films I love!

Back then , I used to joke that Oprah had created the sub genre of ennobling white trash fiction. "She's Come Undone," "The Book of Ruth," "The Rapture at Canaan," so many others of the same ilk. Sorry I read so many of them.

I agree.  They pretty much all were and my book club read them all

Is that why you are no longer in that book club ;)

Thanks, DR Jane - and all you DRs! Alas, you don't get told which technician you will get when you make the appointment.

I would ask when that person is not working.  I would ask when the techsI like are there.

Precious had to get a Buzz Cutt. She is not happy.

Are you sure you don't need a new groomer?

Vibes she doesn't get sunburned.

The lab work this morning was NOT a pleasant experience. I have to have my blood drawn every month, and usually it is not a big deal. But this morning, the lab technician could not get any blood. I guess I am now a zombie.
He inserted the needle about 12 different times in many different places before he could get a sample. Painful! I now have bandages all over.      :P

My friend Margo ALWAYS had trouble getting blood drawn...she says she has thin veins.  She also ALWAYS has to ask for someone with a lot of experience to do it, because people who don't have the experience have to poke her way too many times to find one of her thin veins.

I e-mailed our web host and told him this is happening way too often.  We had a good six months where there were no problems at all, but for the last three weeks this has been pretty much a daily occurrence.

CAGNEY & LACEY
CLOSER
MAJOR CRIMES

MAISIE DOBBS
MAGGIE HOPE (thanks Ginny for reminding me of these)
Lisbeth Salandar aka THE GIRL...........

I know there are more in both categories but these are my favorites that I can think of.  I like the D.D. Warren series DR Jennifer introduced me to.

It took me about an hour and a half to clean up all the dishes from last night's dinner party.  (We don't have a dishwasher, except for moi.)

I took public transit to the Fair, and it worked extremely well. Folks that live near the fairgrounds will let you park in their front yard for a cool $25.

The display cases where they held all the ribbon-winning bakery products were stupendous.

Phew!  I'm home.  Afternoon interview turned into a very long discussion.  I was there for 2 hours!  It was good though.  I really didn't know this lawyer very well and he said I'm definitely one of the top contenders in his mind.  All three commission members I met with have responded to my resume the same way..."Wow!"  the lady this morning said she even wrote that on my app, lol.    I would say so far things have gone as well as they could and I'm glad we took the extra time this afternoon.   I am tired though and think I need a hot fudge sundae or something of that ilk

Ouch.  I suggest you avoid this person from now on.

He must be related to the girl who drew blood from Grace Adler in the "Will and Grace" episode when Karen thought Stanley had suffered a heart attack (he hadn't).  That nurse wannabe was high-larious.

Here it is.  Hilarious!
