There is, on Facebook, a person of such raging ego the likes of which I have never seen in my life. Every post is about himself and his brilliance and then he goes off on tears about things and says that if you don't like it he's happy to block you - in other words, don't dare criticize anything he posts. Well, my friend, it's Facebook and Facebook is not your personal toy, even though you think it is. People have just become babbling idiots. So, today he does a screed about yet another Facebook meme that's being shared relentlessly - a Meryl Streep quote about what she has no patience for anymore. He calls Miss Streep to task, calls her arrogant and a lot of other nasty things. Only guess what? She did not say it. The quote is from some book by some guy. I was not the first to point it out in the responses, but everyone ignores the fact she didn't say it and agrees with him (or not). I finally came in and said he really should apologize for the name-calling, since she is not the author of the quote. He, of course, has left the room, but his pals aren't happy that I think he should apologize. But you know what? When you're wrong, be a human being and say "Oops, made a mistake. I still stand by what I said in terms of the content of the quote, but am sorry I went after the wrong person." That's what a human being would do. But today no one does that simple thing. You want to talk about arrogance? This guy's arrogance knows no bounds, I'm afraid. If he does end up blocking me, at least I won't have to see this stuff anymore. And on it goes, over and over again.
