Time to prepare for dinner. I think I'll bus to 86th, then take the crosstown to Columbus Avenue and walk from there.

Are you having a special Birthday dinner, Elmore?

Yes. I'm meeting my friend Bruce Pomahac at the wonderful restaurant Good Enough To Eat.

I got a nice birthday phone call from Rob Berman this afternoon and a call from my adopted son Joshie.  Rob is in San Diego until early November with this Steve Martin bluegrass show Bright Star. I need to remind Jason to try to get to the Old Globe to see it.

Happy Birthday to DR Elmore!

Thank you, DR Jennifer!

I hope those scissors turn up before someone gets injured.

I am the only person who could lose foot long scissors. :)

Back a few months ago, I found out Ray Courts was doing a new celebrity show back in Burbank.  We chatted via e-mail and I told him I'd love to do it.  He wrote right back, saying he'd get back to me in a week.  But I never heard back from him.  Thankfully I got an e-mail about the show today and I'm on the list as being there.  It's tonight and tomorrow.  Obviously can't do tonight, but since I've already been at the Bewitched show, I'll simply do the Courts show from about ten to four, then go back to the Bewitched show.  What fun!

DR Jennifer, I always seem to lose my scissors. I have even purchased extra pairs. I must have at least four now. Don't know where any of them are.

I wouldn't care if i lost a pair of regular scissors. But these are special scrapbooking ones that I need to work on my scrapbooking.  They are twice as long as regular scissors. So you'd think it would be very hard to lose them.

They look like this:

I am SO retarded sometimes.  The Courts e-mail today had the date September 19th right at the top of the e-mail - but I didn't notice it said it was a September 19th UPDATE - the show itself is actually next Friday night and Saturday day and I will be there for all of it.  Whew!  Ray wrote me right back and said, "If you show up tomorrow you'll be the only celebrity there - the show is next week." :)

So, for DR Laura, the dinner report:
We began with drinks; Bruce had Tanqueray and I had gin and tonic. Then we began with delicious, flakey fried onion rings.  Really quite wonderful.

Bruce had the turkey dinner: turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberries, and corn; and I had meatloaf, green salad, mashed potatoes and gravy. Very wonderful.

For dessert, Bruce had a slice of coconut cake, and I had a huge 4-layered pumpkin ginger spice cake with a cream cheese frosting that was scrumptious beyond belief. I wish I had a slice for breakfast!

Well, I was never blessed with romance or a thriving career, since that seems virtually dead at the moment, but fortune has surrounded me with the best group of friends on- and off-line that anyone could wish for. I've been quite blessed in that dept. and I am very grateful for it.
