I found about 20 ice cream sandwiches in the freezer  and had about 15 kids  at meal, so I had the great joy of sneaking around the dining hall, slipping one on a child's tray  while whispering  "Say nothing!  I don't have any for the grownups!"

The memories of the surprised smiles I received will brighten many a dark moment

 :)

Reading this put a big smile on my face and warmed my heart.

I was just going to post the same thing.  Whenever you need a smile just read a post by DR Vixmom!!

DR Jennifer did you check the trash carefully?

The thing is they are so big that they would not fit in my small bedroom trash.

If amazon shipped for free here i would just buy a new pair.

Check the big trash.  I am shocked at the things I have found in the trash-seriously.

I did check the trash. But I was 99% sure it would not be there just because of how long the scissors are.  Also I have a waterbed. So nothing can go under the bed.

Does your waterbed have a frame around it?  Did you check between the waterbed mattress and frame (assuming you were working on the bed)  I keep thinking they fell behind whatever you were working on, don't know if that's possible, but I think that every time I read your post so thought I'd say it

I was thinking you should check under your couch cushions

we are back from the Hoe Down at the firehouse.  The band has quite a following  there were about 40  or 50 poeple there who just came for the band and the line dancing

It was quite fun to watch them all   they all knew the different dances for the the songs and looked choreographed

Unfortunately watching was our  main involvement with the dancing as I manged to wrench  my knee today .

I have no idea  how I managed this as I wasn't doing anything but leaning into my car to put my purse in the back seat

It didn't bother me so much today while I was walking around  at the soup kitchen  but by tonight it had started throbbing

My knee emphatically explained to me, after my first attempt at dancing tonight, that I would be an observer rather than a participant

The food was wonderful,  barbequed ribs "wet" and "dry", barbequed chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, home made macaroni  and potato salads,  green  salad, baked beans... and to finish up there was watermelon and homemade rice pudding

Good morning.

I also dislike those very loud rock shows. And it seems more and more shows are going that way.

Earlier this year, I ushered for "The Official Blues Brothers Revue."  The show itself was pretty good, but it was much, Much, MUCH (that's three muches) too loud!  I'd never had to use ear plugs for a show before.  I had to leave and get some (the Center provides them free for patrons who need them), otherwise if they didn't I would've had to leave.

Otherwise, the only real Topic of the Day show:  the worst production that I've ever seen was a local production of Little Shop of Horrors.  The Audrey couldn't really sing on pitch and there was no choreography to speak of.  I did a show with one of the Street Urchins a couple of years later and she told me that they pretty much had to make up their own choreography...their "choreographer" had no clew what to do.  For "Close for Renovation," the only change was that they brought in one, count 'em, ONE little vase with a flower in it.  Nothing else was done to "renovate" the store!  WTF??  Their Seymour and their Dentist and the Street Urchins were pretty much the only good things about the show.

DR BwayAnge I like the photo of you and your dear mother.  Thank you for sharing it with us.

Since Mom has been gone, there have been so many instances when I feel she has given me a "hug" from above.  No, I'm no a nutjob!  Here's an example:

A year after Mom passed -- some friends wanted to go to NYC.  As I was researching for the best hotel rates, I came across the following photo and see folks walking in a cross walk.  I'm like -- OMG -- it's Me and Mom -- she's in the greenish jacket on the right and I'm following in the light blue jacket.

Talk about goose bumps.  The B&B was called the Broadway Inn, but it's no longer around.   :)

That's so cool, BwayAnge!

Today, I went to the Rose City Comic Con in Portland, Oregon.  I went with my niece because she didn't want to go by herself.

She wanted to go because she wanted to get (and she got) photographs with a couple of actors that she really likes (they were $30 each!).

She also got (paid for by me...I said that it would be her Christmas present ;) ) the autograph of one of the actors that she got a picture with.  Autographs and pictures are separate activities.  You CANNOT take a photograph yourself when you're getting an autograph.  They'll take your money any way they can.
