Good morning, all! I need new meds. The ones I'm currently taking leave me too exhausted and groggy in the morning. I should be halfway to Toyland by now, but i won't be out of here for another 30 minutes.

Sounds like BK had a god time with Tabitha and the other Adams yesterday, and our DR slingshot is back with us today. Would Robert Browning say that all is well with the world?

I have to head out. I will check in from Toyland.

I said I would honor Mr. McGlinn's birthday this weekend, and so it shall be.  If I listen to BRIGADOON, as was my inclination, I hope to honor Mr. Kugel as well.

One of Dale's projects was to create a full score for BRIGADOON, and McGlinn conducted the recording from that full score. He also made a full score for THE STUDENT PRINCE, and I am privileged to have copies of both in his meticulus handwriting.  One of his last projects before retirement was the digitized full score for MY FAIR LADY.

Greetings from . . . Home!

Two hours of my life i will never get back.

You would think after35 years of living here I would know to stay home on Sundays: there are parades, blocked streets, nightmare traffic, subway repairs, and detours.

Today, there is an African American parade and a march for the environment. The entire Upper West Side is screwed up. As soon as I realized Columbus Avenue was closed off and all downtown traffic on a congested Seventh Avenue, I should have come home. I got to 50th and Seventh Avenue on the 104, waited forever for a M20 bus that never arrived and decided that I should head back uptown. And the uptown subways are jammed because of all the people going to the environment march. I learned later from a No 7 bus driver that Sixth Avenue was closed off, so I might have waited forever for a bus back uptown from Toyland.

This is one of those shitty days where I truly detest this damned city.  Color me very frustrated.

Amazing.  Wonderful stuff.

Dr Elmore, do you remember a published Miniature Vocal Score of BRIGADOON?  I discovered it in a music store on a one-day visit to Boston in the 1960s and bought it (probably because it was the only thing affordable to me that day!).  It had an oddly colorful plaid cover design, as I recall.  It went missing many years ago, and I have the standard one now, but I always wondered how/why that publication came about, and if were there ever any others.

I own that miniature score. I have never seen another, and I have no idea why it was published.

Hoe Down news from DR VIXMOM was most entertaining.

We did fine last night....and our substitute Bert Jefferson was fine.....the audience was fine....and we did well.  Then came the strike.

Scott and I dropped the double door unit....and it died....we were properly chastised.

Around 1995, McGlinn conducted BRIGADOON for City Opera. He told me that his dance tempos on the recording were too fast, according to Gemze de Lappe, who reproduced the original deMille choreography for that production. I think they're quite good on the CD.

My birthday celebration for today is this:

A few months ago, I asked the church organist if she would play something pipe organ-y for the prelude today. I don't know what she has chosen, but I am looking forward to hearing it.
