TOD - no TV or DVDs for us tonight because we're taking Rob and Mary Linda to our local community theatre to see Side by Side by Sondheim.  I'm hoping for the best...

Cool!  I'd love to see a production of this.

That may have been the first national tour I ever saw. Hermione Gingold was in it. She sang "I Never Do Anything Twice." I remember it well.

I saw the national tour with Hermione Gingold in Cincnnati. I have no idea who else was in it now!

I saw it in LA with Miss Gingold, too - she was incredible.  Also, Larry Kert and Millicent Martin, but I can't remember who the others were.  I do know that Terry Trotter was one of the pianists here in LA.

Terry Trotter Trio plays The Fantasticks in Jazz and TTT plays Company In Jazz are a couple of my favorite BK produced CD's.

Maybe I should also purchase the Trotter Little Night Music and Forum cd's.....

I'm sure they can be had VERY cheaply from third-party Amazon sellers or eBay.  I also have some here.

Josh and Jeremy stopped by and delivered orchestra parts, the rental score, and the first three full scores for Paint Your Wagon. My weekend is set.

I saw it in New York in 1977 with Larry Kert, Nancy Dussault, Georgia Brown, and Hermione Gingold.

I'm a little nervous about tonight...

Lonny Price directed tonight's PBS Sweeney Todd.

Is he the same clown that directed that AWFUL Camelot in concert a few years ago?

That would be him.
His Carousel was a little better.

Although the interpretation of Mordred was just wrong...the actor was good.  I really like Bobby Steggert.

Lonny Price is a good actor and he should be enciouraged to go back to that and give up directing,

Is Encore doing the stage version of The Band Wagon or the movie?

They are two completely different animals. The stage show is a revue with no storyline.

That's Entertainment was written for the film version and was not in the original stage version.

The only connection other than the score was Fred Astaire.

The song list I have for the original stage version of The Band Wagon are

1) It Better Be Good
2) Sweet Msuic
3) High and Low*
4) Hoops
5) Confession
6) New Sun In the Sky*
7) Miserable With You
8.) I Love Luisa*
9) Dancing In the Dark*
10) Where Can He Be?
11) White Heat
12) The Beggar's Waltz*
13) Ballet
14) Nanette

and some (or all) the sketches were
15) The Pride of the Claghorns
16) When The Rain Goes Pitter Patter
17) The Flag (and dance)
18) For Good Old Nectar
19) A Nice Place To Visit

*Used in the film version

So if they are doing the stage version I don't want anyone to be disappointed thinking they are going to see the film done on stage.

Burr Tillstrom did Side by Side by Sondheim with Kulka and Ollie. He sang The Two of You which was written for his TV show but rejected.

I believe this was the last thing he did before he died

Tonight, I'm going to see (if I'm able to get a ticket), the latest incarnation of Lord Franzannian's Royal Olympian Spectacular Vaudeville Show!  It'll be at The Midnight Sun, so there are a very limited number of seats available.  Because I can't see it broadcast live, I'm going to record "Sweeney Todd" on BOTH my DVRs, just in case.

"Sweeney Todd" doesn't start until 10:30, so I'll rush home and probably be able to catch most of it.  I don't think the vaudeville show will be over by then...but you never know.  We'll see.
