Remember when Richard walked our DN Lauren down the aisle last summer and danced the father-daughter dance with her?  Well, she and her husband announced on Facebook last night that Baby Goforth will arrive in May!

They'd actually told us 3 weeks ago, but I waited for the official announcement to start spreadin' the news.

Watching a not great bootleg of Next to Normal with great audio. I'm more impressed with the show than I was just listening to the album. And Alice Ripley is nothing short of amazing.

From DR Singdaw:
Quote
Are there really documented cases of people getting the flu from getting the flu shot?

You don't actually get the flu from the vaccination.  What you can get is a reaction that feels just like the flu.  With your resistance down you can then catch the flu once again suffering.

I was allergic to the live virus shot that was used when I was young.  After the 2nd year of having the flu "twice" I didn't get the vaccination again.  I then "only" had the flu once a year.  A few of those were very serious which is why I tried decided, with great trepidation, to get a flu shot even though I hadn't had the flu in a several years.  I was extremely relieved when I didn't react.  I know people who have the same reaction as I did to the live virus form.

At the swim meet yesterday one of the events was 25m back streamline. You basically start in the water like regular back stroke. And you push off the bars and start with an underwater flip kick.  Then you hold your arms out on top of your head and kick really hard.  There is a girl on my niece's swim team who is 10 1/2.  She stayed under water for the entire 25m. It was the craziest thing ever.  In real back stroke you are only allowed to stay under water for a few meters. But there is no such rule for this event. Most swimmers stay under for a couple of meters.  This girl is super tall for her age.  It was the most amazing thing to watch.

I would love to have her lung capacity.

Congrats to DR Ginny and DH Richard!

Thanks, DR KevinH!  This will be the son or daughter of our goddaughter, so it's extra-special.

I really think that free-for-all Sunday is a risky business (without Tom Cruise).

Then my friend told me about Crackle on Apple TV an we watched two episodes of All in The Family. We both had seen them of over the years and they are both still funny. Can't say that about most tv comedy series these days. Plus they run 5 minutes with opening and closing credits and the few extra minutes of story plot doesn't feel as the story is being rushed. They really do not make shows like All in the Family.

The shows run 5 minutes?

Or you could do a put-together of both shows - Into the Seven Brides - oops, nope, not in THIS world :)

Or SEVEN BROTHERS FOR WOOD?

Jane, you asked where in Washington the bear cub was taken.  Currently he is in a wild animal shelter in Lynnwood, WA.
They keep the cub from almost 100% human contact.  And when the cub is well, he will be returned to the wild in Oregon.

Last ngiht we had quite a windstorm.  My power never went out, although a lot of areas did; but the lights kept flickering so much that I stayed off the computer.  I was asleep before the winds stopped.

Thanks.  I saw a photo of him knocked out.  I didn't read the article to see what they were doing with him.  I'm glad he will be released.  The cub that followed Sherlock & me while we were hiking was never captured due to human exposure.

We were lucky not to have lost our power again.  There were patches that went out in the surrounding areas.  The wind was much calmer today, however, I wore a jacket for the first time.
