DR DRUXY I saw a 77 Sunset Strip version of TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT - I have read that during a particular writer's strike during the 1960's, the Warner Bros. reused a lot of their movie scripts for their television shows and credited a writer named Hermanos Warner.....check the credits of that episode, maybe that was one of them.
Half the fun of watching these old WB shows is trying to identify some of the reused plots and old footage. That footage from the older big budget westerns certainly gave these quickly filmed TV shows great production value.
I watched a
CHEYENNE episode a few days ago that used the same plot as an old Gary Cooper movie,
SPRINGFIELD RIFLE. In a couple of the long shots, you could tell it was Cooper, rather than Clint Walker. In another episode, it was obvious that the actor was Joel McCrea instead of Walker.
I guess they could get away with that back then because television screens were much smaller.
