Good morning, all.

Guess you had a double back in the 1980s, Elmore, or my eyesight is even worse than I thought.

A woman in my neighborhood was trying to decide upon a Halloween costume. I suggested that she go as pianist Richard Goode.

Good second day of work vibes for DR SINGDAW.

I hope DR GEORGE got his laundry done finally.

DR CILLA LIZ - I finally watched ABOUT TIME by the director of LOVE, ACTUALLY......it was great....and I highly recommend it.....the previews made it look like an entirely different kind of movie than it really was.

If you like one, I think you will like the other.

I can't find DR RODZINSKI on my Facebook friends list, but I am assuming you have him on your list MR BK and that he has been invited to the shows.....along with DR JOSE.

I don't know that I have a favorite non-Disney animated film, although I am fond of Once Upon a Forest and The Secret of NIMH.

Tuesday morning greetings!  Last night I presided over the November branch meeting of AAUW Middletown, where the theme was "Celebrating Youth."  We had as our guests the 2 eight-grade girls who attending a science summer camp with scholarships from us.  Our main speaker was the Springboro High School senior who is making a documentary about "fat letters:"

I'm having lunch today with my friend Becky.  We haven't seen each other since mid-June, so it could be a l-o-n-g lunch...

Well, I feel like Faye Dunaway in CHINATOWN: I'm sick-it's allergies-I'm sick-it's allergies-I'm sick-it's allergies, and I guess I'm sick. Not only is my head stopped up but my gastrointestinal system is very unhappy at the moment. I did use the neti pot to wash out my sinuses, and i've taken Chlortrimeton for allergies, but my stomach is now behaving like Vesuvius.

So, i guess some days you just have to let things work themselves out and keep out of the way.  It's better now than later in the week, but damn!

I cannot say I am a happy camper at the moment.

Am wracking my brain trying to recall a moment when you "were" a happy campter.  ;)

Larry:  I do commiserate with your ailments.  I live in an open-to-the-elements environment inasmuch as my balcony door and all my windows are always open (except in winter and during rain).  I get so much pollen and dust at times that I think I'm ill when I need to just attach a hose to my nostrils and clean house.

However, the other symptoms you describe are indicative of something...perhaps a viral something that took advantage of your weakened sinus conditions.

Dring plenty of water, take aspiring and get rest.

It's Veterans Day...a holiday, naturally...and here I sit in the Oakland Hills, tapping away on my laptop.  The homeowners have a very high speed internet with WiFi and shared the codes with me.  I am VERY grateful.  It's nirvana to be able to instantly open anything I want to get into.

i was up before dawn to feed the cats and uncoop the chickens.   Said chickens are squawking their lungs out this morning.   I think they want "out" of their pen to roam the garden.  It's overcast, cold and nothing could prompt me to go out there and sit in the midst of all that while they grub.  And that is the procedure --  Find a half hour or more each day to let them roam while I stand by.

Having an indoor pet in a ranch configuration is one thing.  Having cats and chickens in a multi-level environment (three levels to the house and two garden tiers) and having to descend and ascend multitudes of stairs to get to them to care for them is quite another.   Will be glad when my house-sitting is done...on Sunday.  I need some rest.

I made a very kick-ass cup of French Roast (Peet's brand) coffee this morning.  Am enjoying its final sips and am contemplating doing another.

DWTS:  if you don't know the acronym, this isn't something you'll enjoy.   There is something exceedingly (some might say "excessively") wrong with a dance competition in which a very good dancer (Leah Thompson) has to go home because the worst standing dancer in the competition (Tommy Chong) is "safe from elimination" for the night.

I'm sure it's a "voter" thing....the same thing on "American Idol" that props up horrible singers and sees really good ones go home.   The public should NEVER be allowed to vote on such matters.

SPOILER for "CASTLE":

If you watch the show but have not seen Monday night's episode, READ NO FURTHER because I am about to give away some plot points.  It was a very strange, odd and "okay" episode that wanted to be Capra-esqu a la "It's A Wonderful Life" given that Castle found himself whisked into a universe in which he and Becket had never met.  This was part of the story's gist earlier when they both asked the other what they think they would be doing "now" if they had never met.  Castle was still an author but not a very successful one as he had gambled away most of his money.  His mother was, unbelievably, a major star of the stage and about to embark upon a revival of "Mame".  His daughter was goth and visiting from California.  Becket was a precinct captain.   There are convolutions, but ultimately you see that Becket IS attracted to Castle as he is to her.  There is an Incan object d'art that may or may not have been the responsible item for Castle's (mis)adventure or he may have simply dreamed it after being conked on the head in an explosion in the show's early going.  The ultimate "what it led to" is that he and Becket finally marry...in a surreal setting (apparently on top of a building with a skyscape of great beauty, but no buildings).  So, the deed is finally done after last season's ridiculous cliffhanger and this season's lousy opening episodes.   May this finally lead to a return of the show in a different mode.  I'm thinking Nick and Nora Charles...or even Hart to Hart...would be good role models for Kate and Rick!

END SPOILAGE.

What do do with my day.   Oh, my!

By the bye....I did go back to bed for a short while after the pre-dawn feeding forays for cats and chickens.

It didn't take, however.  I got some rest, but the cat started meowing again and the chickens started their clucking and probably waking up the neighbors.   Oh, well...

Thanks, Ron. I am being very self-indulgent at the moment and doing exactly that.

We get the four-day Thanskgiving Weekend at work, and I am taking off the first three days as well.   Will be doing all I can to get my stuff together to ship home.  All my shopping is done, but it's all got to be sent out.

So....never a free moment to feel no guilt about.

I fully expected a sunny day by now, but it's quite grey and cold-looking out there.  Even the chickens have stopped squawking.

I'm in the mood for some Astaire and Rogers, but all my discs are back at home (8 minutes away).  Still, if I went home to get them, my mood would change.  And by the time I got something back here, my mood would change again.
