Two-time Oscar winner Luise Rainer is dead at 104.

A trip to the grocery was not a pleasant experience. I ended up wanting to get out of there more than I did getting the stuff I needed. I hate that.

It is easier going during the day than at night.  I'm guessing it was busy as people prepare to celebrate.

I met Miss Rainer when I was working on Totally Hidden Video prior to our move to Hollywood in the final season.  We were in North Hollywood at Premore, a post-production house.  And Miss Rainer was there to do some voice over thing for some show about Hollywood - Van Johnson was also there.  I met her and I don't really remember how, but the next day I had her sign a photo for me, which I still have.  Maybe I'll scan it.  She was approaching eighty at that point - and she lived almost another quarter century!

Wonderful news about Samantha's engagement (now official engagement)!

And now I hear that her brother has proposed to his girlfriend.  They will get married when Katie finishes her phd. So, maybe in 2016

That's how I feel when I go to one grocery store in town where they are constantly rearranging the aisles.  Like from one side of the store to another.   It's too frustrating to shop there but it's the only store open on Sunday so I end up there sometimes

Tomorrow night we are doing some goofy haikus at the NYE party I'm going to. That's the one I talked about earlier where I'm not taking my flute.   Anyway, if anyone wants to help me come up with some funny haikus, I'm all ears

I learned today that my neighbor across the street in my hometown played chess with the guy that Unbroken was written about when they were both in Hawaii during WWII.   Interesting

Please send out mega vibes for Craig to meet a nice girl, get married, and have a baby while I can still enjoy the experience.  Most of all I want him to be happy.

Cillaliz, do they have to be original haikus?  If not, check out this (if you didn't already know about it): Godzilla Haiku!!

Very interesting. If you see the movie, let us know what you think. I keep hearing all sorts of reviews from great to horrible.

It is 27 here.  We even had some snow this morning.   I hope it isn't slippery when I hike tomorrow.  I would hate to begin the new year with a broken something.

I have my second cornbread in the oven from the new buttermilk recipe I tried.  It was yummy except that it stuck to the bottom of the pan.  This one I will leave in the pan to cool.

My recipe has sugar in it which I know many say it is wrong to add.  I do like sweet things.  DR John, unfortunately you were out of town and not here when I was searching for a recipe.

I'm toying with going.  I've heard things all over the board.  I saw the story about it on either Dateline or 20/20 or whatever it was and I was very intrigued.

The one thing I love to have the most at the holidays is my mom's scalloped oysters.  We didn't have them at Thanksgiving or at Christmas so I made them tonight
