This is what I have decided is MY holiday tradition.   I am going to make my favorite holiday foods every year around holiday time, just not all at the same time.  So one day it will be one favorite food and a couple days later another.  Our holiday meals are now pretty much the traditions of my brothers family.  My favorites aren't their favorites, so this way they can have whatever they want to have an I'll still get my favorites too

DR John is the one who said to use the box mix for cornbread, :)

Oops, I missed that was DR John-sorry John.

Well, it's time for me to leave.  I need to feed my friend's cats (I've done it before...a LOT ;) ).  Then, I'll go home and figure out something to do.

Until later!

The temperature is dropping in NYC.  I think it's time for bed.

No time to be much of a TV watcher, but I did binge watch ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK on Netflix, while I had a long delay in an airport, and that was very good, both acting and writing.   Also loved the few episodes of HOUSE OF CARDS that I caught….Kevin Spacey is just excellent in whatever he does.  And MadMen is still one of my favorites, though I missed this season.

Advance wishes for a Happy New Year to all the folks here! ----- Leslie (aka LeChienFou)

Good evening. I spent a lovely day with Wae-Ling and a photographer friend of mine. The photographer has never looked at birds before. We were at a wildlife preserve on the Colorado River. She learned a lot about birds today.

TOD: I do not own a tv, so any tv watching I do is in motel rooms. Frankly, I think the best thing on is The Weather Channel.

And I stand by that. Doctor it with your own ingredients, like jalapenos or fresh corn or pimento. Or sausage.

Somehow I ended up watching a Jane Powell double feature tonight. First was "A Date with Judy," followed by "Hit the Deck." Not terribly thought provoking.

Oh, no!  I totally forgot that they were on.  I hope my sister's boyfriend recorded them. :-\ He's done that in the past.

The helper will finally be back on Friday - and we're going to have to have a long talk.  The deal that I knew in advance from the start was that she went home to visit her folks two to three times a year.  And that's what it's been until now - but in addition to going back already earlier, she went back for Thanksgiving for over a week, and Christmas (which she hasn't done before) for TWO weeks and now I've been informed her folks for Christmas gave the family a cruise - eight days at the end of January.  I've kind of already told her that for those eight days she has to have someone on call to ship stuff - it's mostly because of Amazon - when those orders come in, you have to confirm them immediately and say you're shipping the same day - it gives you NO options to ship later and they send you harassing e-mails if you don't confirm in twenty-four hours.  Needless to say, we've got eight orders that came in since she's been gone that haven't been shipped.  If people start complaining we get negative feedback and Amazon could suspend the seller account and I just can't have this repeated stuff.  So, unless we come to an understanding, I may be on the lookout for a new helper, which I'd hate to do after four years, but it's too much already.
