I liked INTO THE WOODS.....would rather have SEEN some of the things we were TOLD about....missed the "Agony" reprise....the things that have all been said already....that's pretty much how I feel.

I could BARELY understand a word "Jack" said....between the mumble mouth and the accent....and I really prefer an adolescent "Jack".....it makes "Giants In the Sky" a better song....

BUT - I am sure I will buy it and like it each time I decide to watch it.

I miss the old comfortable Kenwood shopping center!  :)   But I'm sure the current incarnation is nice.  Have a nice shopping trip, DR Ginny!

ROBERTA did not make the 10 BestLis this year, although both EILEEN and DEAREST ENEMY won in the past two years.  I knew from his review and his panning all the dialogue that we were not high n his list this year, but I am irked that we lost to the miscast ONE TOUCH OF VENUS.

I don't understand that attitude toward the generous amount of dialogue in ROBERTA and other recordings.

I can understand it from the Goddard Lieberson perspective re single LP cast albums, but not in the context of today's desire for comprehensive works and the technical means of achieving them.

The post office was a breeze; the walk there was not bad, since the streets have been salted, and it was warmer outside than I expected.  I was not happy at the market at 86th and Amsterdam: not a single clerk on the floor to help in finding items.  Since walking with a shopping bag, basket of items, and a cane was painful, the aisles narrow and difficult to maneuver, I asked loudly if there was anyone on he floor for help, got no answer, and I finally put down my shopping basket in disgust and walked out.

I know the dialogue's not everyone's cup of tea, and i anticipated that.  What I wasn't expecting was so much hostility over it.

Thanks, Singdaw!  My throat is still a little sore, but at least I slept fairly well. :)

Am at work - Friday - January 9, 2015.

Sigh.

Want to be at home, I guess.

I need a coffee...maybe an espresso shake!

From DR John:

Nice notes on your friend's mother, Jane. Glad they did everything they could for her.

Thank you.  It is nice to see families that work together when a parent is declining, unlike what I went through with my sister.

While I feel sad this has been expected.  I hope her granddaughter makes it through the funeral without going into labor.

I seem to know a number of people who have recently had hip replacement and one who is about to.  I don't know anyone who has had hip resurfacing.

DR George, that French productin of FOLLIES is from Toulon, I think, not the Theatre du Chatelet.

Spoo!  You're right.  I also have a download of the Theatre du Chatelet production of "Sunday in the Park with George" and had watched it recently.  That's probably why I was thinking of that place.

DR Ron posted this on FB and it's pretty darned encouraging...Happy New Year! Stanford May Have Just Cured Alzheimer's.

If it turns out to be true (in however long it takes to prove), that would be a great thing!  Both my grandmothers had Alzheimer's.

Wouldn't it be amazing if somebody walked into the grocery store and was planning on buying everything in the grocery basket that DR ELMORE set down on the floor?

The article speculates that this could be THE year, as well.
