I thought this was an unusual and interesting view of the interior of Carnegie Hall.

It is.

Researching the ingredients on the homeopathic Zicam I could only find the reason it says "no zinc".  Apparently spraying zinc in your nose is not healthy for it and the original Zicam with zinc was pulled.

I have been sitting here refreshing my screen like crazy waiting for my niece's swimming results.  She did great. And thankfully she swam 8 races and was not disqualified. They are extremely picky at the meet she is at. So far in the relays 4 out of the 6 teams (not hers) have been disqualified.

How very disappointing for the teams that were disqualified.  Congrats to your niece.

This pool is known to disqualify a lot.  Sadly the #1 team from my niece's pool got disqualified. They would have come in first (not that they get medals or anything).

Why are they disqualified?  Is it something the children or the coach do wrong or for something they can't really help?

There are many reasons the swimmer can be disqualified.  Each stroke has its own rules. You can only touch the wall with one hand in back and front, and two hands in breast and fly.  The turns are a big thing.  For relays it is the turns or if you go in before the swimmer before you touches the wall.

The biggest thing is backstroke. You cannot turn to look for the wall. And the turns have to be done a certain way.

Concert was wonderful. Perlman doesn't announce what he's going to play until he plays it. So there was no program.

He performed Beethoven's Violin Concert No. 8, which was playful and joyous; Grieg's Violin Concerto No. 3, highly melodic; and a Ravel Sonata plus some Fritz Krizler pieces. Highly enjoyable.

Finally back from a tech run-through and some clean-up, then birthday dinner with Sami and mom.  Shockingly, Genghis Cohen was closed for maintenance so we ended up at Ruth's Chris for a hugely fun dinner.

It's weird - one of my cast members today reported that Cathy Rigby, doing some flying in Seussical (why is anyone's guess), had a wire break or malfunction, falling eight feet to the ground face first.  According to my cast member, several teeth broke and there were bruised ribs and such.  But the weird part is that there hasn't been one thing about this anywhere on the Internet, so either it's being kept a big, big secret or it didn't happen.

Got proofer three's notes back - mostly technical and very easy to do and did 95% of that stuff.  There are three little things to run by Muse Margaret tomorrow.

Here's the description of this show:

Quote
Confessions of an Ex-Unicorn, a Cabaret

Come get caught up on the gory details of the romance gossip you've missed out on!

On Sunday, February 8, Alexis Moore Eytinge performs a charming and humorous cabaret of show tunes, dating adventures and the realities of becoming an adult. Yvette Starkey will be accompanying her at the piano, Amy Roesler on bass with Rachel Ann Becker and Kate Rosalie Brauneis on back up.

Ever have that co-worker who comes to your desk and starts spilling too much information about their date last night? Add some lively show tunes and you know what you’re in for! Song titles include: “Taylor, the Latte Boy”, “Miss Byrd”, “I Could Be Jewish For You,” “Lovesick” and “Arthur in the Afternoon”.

Audience members will be treated to comic discussions of how our sex education system does not prepare us for romantic relationships, how to share your feelings appropriately — a skill we all need for our everyday lives, not just dating — how emotions get backed up and can get in the way of the big “O” and an exploration of how our culture perpetuates unhealthy relationships.

Adult Content, All Ages until 8pm $5-10 sliding scale

Well, I'm back from seeing Alexis' one-woman cabaret show, "Confessions of an Ex-Unicorn."  It was a delightfully delightful show about her relationships...and she got pretty personal! ;)

She had some good stories (all actual experiences) but some of her stories were longer than the songs that went with them.  Her whole show including intermission was about 2 hour and 20 minutes long.

She only had one lyric bobble and she recovered quickly.  But she otherwise sang quite well and the audience, mostly friends and family, loved it...as did I.
