I'm unhappy about Derek Hough dancing in the DWTS season, too.  Now I HAVE to watch.  Derek is the best dancer on the show, bar none.  Of course, if his partner is a dud, it won't matter.  His partner's last name, IIRC, is Liunka.

I don't know what a Liunka is.  Have never seen the name before this morning.

Don't associate with anything.

Oy and vey - I think I got a total of maybe three hours of sleep before the phone rang at nine-thirty.  I've been up dealing with irritants (one) since.

Oh. My. God.

Yep, that's what I said -- OUT LOUD -- when I put on the original LP of She Loves Me.  It's beautiful!  Last night I was shocked, shocked, at the harsh sounds of the CD, and I feared that I'd find that was just the way the recording has always been.  Not so.  The vinyl actually has a low end, a beautiful full stereo spread, and is about a hundred times more musical in all respects.  Even the orchestra is beautiful.  Regardless of which gentleman was waving the stick that day.

I put the CD back in, synced them up, made sure the volume was equalized between the two sources, and went back and forth, amazed.  Granted, this was an early (1988) CD.  And the record album was allotted two (count 'em) LPs -- four sides -- so MGM must have been on spectacularly good behavior in laying some nice grooves for this one.  Still, the difference between the 1963 LP and the 1988 CD is shocking.

So...     Who wants a free CD?     :D

I haven't looked, but I wonder if it's been reissued and improved since then.

Well, damn it to HELL.  I just passed a nice little millstone myself.  Yesterday, I guess.

Nope, just this morning, as I was going on about Pshaw.  Damn!

Well it looks like he got the best partner. She was a gymnast.

I don't get why some people dislike Derek.  He is by far my favorite pro dancer. He is brilliantly talented.  I guess I understand why people don't want the same pro to win every year.  But he is the best. That is why he wins.  I was practically jumping up and down when he was announced. I was so sad that he was going to be sitting out this season.

Thank you again, everybody, for all the birthday wishes yesterday.  I do appreciate it.

I lucked out and had an internet connection for a few minutes yesterday while I was waiting for my flight home.  I hope you had a very nice birthday.

Oy and Vey-- it's already 1:00pm.  Trying to take the day and re-group before my rehearsals at 3:15 and 7:00 - but I had some second car issues that had to be taken care of - which were - and have to go to the storage unit, the pet store and Trader Joes before rehearsal.

So I'm outa here for now - but only for now.

It was late when I got home last night and I didn't sleep well.  I'm fighting a cold and hoping it is allergies.

My friend Marni Nixon just posted that her son Andrew Gold - I assume his father is Marni's ex, Ernest Gold - died on Friday of heart attack.  He was 59.

The She Loves Me CD was horrible.  I'd love to do it, but I'm sure it's owned by Warners.

The service for my cousin in-law was very nice and my cousin gave her a funny, wonderful, beautiful tribute.  He tends to be on the quiet side and it is always surprising to hear what a great speaker he is.  That he is a great speaker won't surprise those of you who know him as "The Voice".

Just listened to the original London cast CD, which is quite nice.  They made a few changes which are "eh", but the orchestra is recorded well and the cast seems mostly good -- even if no one in the world can touch Barbara Cook.  (Duh.)  And too much of the score is missing, after you get spoiled by the other two albums (original and BK's).  Anyhoo, back to BK's now, and to trying to improve the sound of my contribution a little bit.
