I'm now going to leave work.  It's very early for me.  I have rehearsal tonight, and I don't have to get there until 8:30, but I want to take a little nap and then work on my lines.  Since I have no other plans, this will give me time to work on memorizing.

Be back later!

On Saturday I saw an off-Broadway show called "Application Pending."  It is a one-woman show starring Christina Bianco, who plays a couple of dozen characters (well, voices).  She's very good (and actually has some great youtube videos where she impersonates lots of vocalists) but the show itself wasn't.

Hello. I went for a nice long hike. It was only 80F when I got back to the car, but after five hours out in the sun, I was very warm.

I also saw "The Audience," with Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II.  It's about the meeting she has every Tuesday with the Prime Minister.  Dame Helen was really wonderful.

It featured Judith Ivey as Margaret Thatcher (very funny).   Surprisingly, Tony Blair makes only a brief appearance.    And there are corgis in the house!

I went to the TKTS and pondered what show to see.  I finally decided on "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," but when I got to the ticket seller I was told there were no tickets left.   I waited a while and decided to see "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder" again and was told the same thing when I got to the ticket seller!

So I decided to go to the theatre for a seat in the balcony (since I had already seen the show).  The show was sold out but standing room tickets were available for $27, so I got one.    The house manager told the standees that we could move to an open seat at intermission.  Luckily I was able to do so.

I just love the show.  While I did prefer Bryce Pinkham as Monty Navarro, the replacement is very good.   And Jefferson Mays is hilarious.

I also saw Karen Mason at Don't Tell Mama.   I enjoyed the show very much and said a quick hello to Music Director and superb pianist Chris Denny.

Then it was time to go to 54 Below for the Mack and Mabel concert.  It was really terrific.  Mr. Barrett sang "Movies Were Movies" and "I Won't Send Roses" wonderfully.   Emily Skinner did "Time Heals Everything."  Lee Roy Reams,  Sean McDermott and Beth Leavel also sang, but I don't remember the names of the songs.  Everyone did a great job.

I recently sent a letter to the artistic director of the company in which I am the "resident" musical director resigning my title.  These young, childish people feel the best way to run a company is hire their friends to work for them, choose new and "edgy" plays/musicals (and get their friends to be cast in them) and brush aside those who have been loyal to them for 20 years.

Just sayin'...

Sorry to hear this, DR Matthew.

I've been cleaning and organizing drawers and cabinets today.  I did a difficult purging of stuff today.  I am no longer eligible to be on the hoarders show.  I try not to focus on what is gone and think what a relief it is to have a neat organized home :)

More to do but the worst is over, for now.

Nothing concrete, we just go round and round on it.  I want to go back to California but with the difference in the cost of real estate & taxes, it isn't going to happen.

It is really hard to imagine moving from here so if the house doesn't sell we will simply continue to enjoy it, even more after the purging.

I have always preferred daylight savings, now I'm not sure I do.  I wish we would stop going back and forth and just pick one.

Back to work because I have been taking too long of a break.  It is easier to return to sorting, etc. when it is still bright outside.

Well, I figured out what happened to my email.  My fault: I thnk it ccurrd while I was compacting email folders to save space. Perhaps when my Mac Man comes to set up the new one, he can retrieve them from the backup yesterday.

As soon as the return lands, I'm buying a new computer.

Me, too.  I just need to do my taxes.

Me, three. I just got my last document from the accountant. Maybe I can get started this weekend.
