One guy is owing

I think that you are the one who will be owing, after they're through.      :)

But I am glad that you have the help.

I have also decided I am too fat

Surely not, after losing 5,000 pounds?

Oh - that was DR Jane.

We watched WILD ladt night.  I liked it better than the book, less time to be frustrated with her crazy behavior.  It was fun to see Ashland, what we could see of it.

Thanks.

I need to fully wake up and start packing.  I have a great fear everything we want to take with us won't fit in the car.

Two of my favorite TOD moments happened on The Donald O'Conner Show which was on in the afternoons (in Indy) for a year or so.....I have mentioned one that featured Joan Baez....aka Joanie Phonie.....

She would hardly speak to Donald at all.  At the time her husband was facing jail time for evading the draft and other political problems, and Joan had been to prison for protesting the war herself..  He would ask her a question and she wouldn't say a word.  So finally he said: "What would you like to talk about?"

Joan snapped: "You have questions on your card there, just ask them."

And Donald looked her in the eye and asked: "Okay, sister, how did you like it up the river?"

And on a later episode he had Keefe Brasselle, Barrie Chase, and Rod Serling on....I had never seen Rod on a talk show.  He was hilarious.  Keefe was selling his book and Barrie had just put out a record, and Rod was talking about a movie he was in.

Toward the end, Rod just started laughing.....Donald asked him what was funny.  Rod said:  "You have a quite a crew on today, an actor trying to be a writer, and writer trying be an actor, and a dancer trying to be a singer.  I actually don't need any of this."

Donald said: "Really?"

Rod:  "Of course not, I married money.  My wife has over $500 in the bank!"

DR VIXMOM.....I am seeing the therapist instead of a chiropractor, because my insurance this year has a $5000 deductible and the therapist will be under $100.  I don't think the chiropractor would be that......practical.

TOD:
When I was twelve to thirteen years old I was a total "Mike Douglas Show" junkie. I watched that show every afternoon without fail. During the time of "Chico and the man", Freddie Prinze was one of the guests on the show, which thrilled me because I was quite smitten with him. I also happened to be taking ballet lessons since I was four years old. So, imagine my delight when after a commercial break, they came back and had set up ballet bars all over the stage. Apparently Freddie Prinze had also taken a lot of ballet lessons and was going to teach a class to everyone on the show. I think at one point Freddie does an arabesque and kicks Mike Douglas in the testicles. It was hilarious. I was in heaven. I just tried to find this segment on Youtube, but it's not there.

Oh shoot!  Lar, did I miss the season finale of GRIMM last night?

DR TCB, the Finale is next week, but all hell broke loose last night.
The Grimm Trouble returned
The Captain was possessed by Jack the Ripper
Juliette set up the murder of Nick's mother
Nick issued orders to shoot to kill if anyone ran into Juliette
The Royals now have Adalind's baby

A question for the populace at large:

For some reason I thought I had the Jay recording of WEST SIDE STORY, but I've convinced myself that I was mistaken on that point.  Which means I've probably never heard it.

So, how good is it?  Or rather, which "complete" recording(s) is(are) the best?  In your humble opinions, of course.  Actually, wasn't this discussed not too long ago when the San Francisco one was happening?

I haven't listened to the Jay WSS in a long time; I don't really remember how I feel about it. I do like the recent San Francisco recording a lot. It's sort of in the vein of the Bernstein complete recording without some of the most glaring casting mistakes.

I received word late yesterday afternoon that I've been elected to a 2-year term on the board of the American Library Association's Retired Member Round Table, effective at the end of this year's annual conference.  That means I get to go to Boston in January and Orlando in June next year...

Congratulations!

Nice trips, DR Ginny!

Wait.

Did you say "Boston in January"?     :D

Yes, DR ChasSmith, ALA is notorious for going places like Chicago and Philadelphia for Midwinter and Atlanta and New Orleans for Annual.  Someone wrote in one of our professional journals years ago that the IRS would never question our expenses for these conferences.

Maybe they need to get a retired reference librarian on board.  You know someone who could look up weather trends in the various states of the US

I am very fond of the JAY WEST SIDE STORY.  It used a lot of the cast of a West End rvival with a couple of ringers thrown in like the Maria, who's wonderful.  I also think Paul Manuel, the Tony, is wonderful.  The American accents come and go and the cuts Robbins made in the dance music are used, but I like it very much, one of the few complete JAY recordings I can say that about.
