While at the dentist yesterday I learned that some people who have Delta Dental are able to get reimbursements even though my dentist isn't with DD. WHAT?! I called my Medicare Advantage provider to learn more and got the usual bureaucratic run-around. Everyone was trying to help, but no one had the information I was seeking. One of the DD people and I finally pieced together an answer. It was pretty basic information, too. So, no, even with a dental rider, my health insurance won't cover any of the $$$$ of my dental bills.

Delta Dental is an insurance I had while at the university. I still have that option as a "retiree" but I can't come up with the premiums. However, if it's available and I can afford it, I would get it again without a hesitation. Seems that all the dentists take it and the coverage is pretty good.

Years ago, when HMOs were the rage, one of the companies I worked for had an Aetna all-inclusive policy. That was great for me, as I have no children and was in decent health. The dental coverage was just right. But, that was then.

DR George, maybe you could use some of your 50 grand to buy a new TV. Or tires. Or...

Do you have a good rebate credit card?

Sadly, no.  Just a regular credit card.  I should transfer my balance to one with points or some other perk.

Delta Dental is the network that is offered on the Minnesota state health exchange. The premiums range from $14 to $48.50 per person per month. In my opinion, however, the offerings are pretty meager in terms of benefits. At least, the plans that are offered for adults on the state exchange. You may be able to get better plans by going to the network directly.

I could do several pages of Broadway musical "binder" jokes (which DR Jrand64 started, I'll have you know!). But that might get tiring pretty quickly. I will just do a few.

DR Dan M - very sorry to hear that your oncologist may be leaving your hospital.

Thank you. Yes, it's like being in the foxhole and losing your general, or some war movie cliché. At least, that's what I think.

I can understand this. Vibes you don't need to fight the battle again and you peace time general is better than your war time one.

DR DAN M - companies won't leave anything alone....and rarely is it really better....but maybe this time you'll be lucky.....

Being lucky vibes for DR Dan!!!!

Thanks DR Jane and DR Jrand. I really have been fortunate. In the first few weeks of knowing I had something serious, but not knowing what, and the confusion, everything fell into place. As things settled, and I didn't wind up with the oncologist I thought, there was Dr. Kratz, whom I didn't know what to make of first. Which for me is sometimes a good thing.

There are people who appear in the path you're on and you're not sure why they are there. That was left for me to figure out and as I got to know Dr. Kratz I realized that (just like the old "Twilight Zone" episode) she was "just what I needed" (she was an Ernest Truex character in spirit). That's how my whole cancer adventure has been. People have come along who have been wonderful and sometimes I didn't understand why right away.

Your relate your experiences very well. I'm glad she was there for you at the right time.

Chelsea Music has come and gone.  I'm downloading the files I could not download to disc to Dropbox.  I will very shortly head home.

So this is indeed farewell from Toyland!  I've had seven pretty good years in this office.

Farewell From Toyland!

I am glad I got to see it.  Like us you are beginning a new chapter in your life, may it be a good one.

Holy moley on rye I slept until two again.  That's close to twelve hours!  Guess I needed it, but there will be no more of this happening - I'll set the alarm from now on - I can't miss entire mornings and half the afternoons.  So, got to go banking, eat and visit the mail place.

I need at least 12 hours of sleep but there is no way I can sleep that long.  At the very best I get until 8:00.

I got nervous just reading about DR JEANNE's dentist experience.

Well, I could have just said, "I went to the dentist today." But where's the fun in that? Our HHW DRs need a story, conflict, emotion, DRAMA! I try my best to provide it.   ;)

I just spoke with the front office. Looks like the new AC equipment will be installed on the roof later today or early tomorrow to avoid the direct heat of the sun during the day. I was also offered the option of staying overnight in the model apartment should I feel too hot here.

That is nice.  I will keep reading to see if you are in a hotel.

DR singdaw, do you know if Physicians' Mutual or Clear Choice are any good?

I'm probably just going to have my surgery under my Obamacare plan which I just paid up-to-date by May 30, even though I have Medicare A & B as of June 1. I'm looking into a supplemental insurance from State Farm, from which I already have a renter's policy. Maybe there's some discount in having more than one policy.

I didn't know State Farm offered supplement medicare insurance.  We have our car and house with them but not our medical.
