Delta Dental is an insurance I had while at the university. I still have that option as a "retiree" but I can't come up with the premiums. However, if it's available and I can afford it, I would get it again without a hesitation. Seems that all the dentists take it and the coverage is pretty good.

Years ago, when HMOs were the rage, one of the companies I worked for had an Aetna all-inclusive policy. That was great for me, as I have no children and was in decent health. The dental coverage was just right. But, that was then.

Delta Dental is the network that is offered on the Minnesota state health exchange. The premiums range from $14 to $48.50 per person per month. In my opinion, however, the offerings are pretty meager in terms of benefits. At least, the plans that are offered for adults on the state exchange. You may be able to get better plans by going to the network directly.

Thanks DR Jane and DR Jrand. I really have been fortunate. In the first few weeks of knowing I had something serious, but not knowing what, and the confusion, everything fell into place. As things settled, and I didn't wind up with the oncologist I thought, there was Dr. Kratz, whom I didn't know what to make of first. Which for me is sometimes a good thing.

There are people who appear in the path you're on and you're not sure why they are there. That was left for me to figure out and as I got to know Dr. Kratz I realized that (just like the old "Twilight Zone" episode) she was "just what I needed" (she was an Ernest Truex character in spirit). That's how my whole cancer adventure has been. People have come along who have been wonderful and sometimes I didn't understand why right away.

Your relate your experiences very well. I'm glad she was there for you at the right time.

DR singdaw, do you know if Physicians' Mutual or Clear Choice are any good?

I'm probably just going to have my surgery under my Obamacare plan which I just paid up-to-date by May 30, even though I have Medicare A & B as of June 1. I'm looking into a supplemental insurance from State Farm, from which I already have a renter's policy. Maybe there's some discount in having more than one policy.

I didn't know State Farm offered supplement medicare insurance. We have our car and house with them but not our medical.
