My ex is leaving on Monday for Toronto.  They are doing a special event to the memory of Oscar Peterson at some music festival.  His niece is the widow of Oscar Peterson.

Where I lived in Puyallup, we had fruit bats in the summer.  I would walk down the block to get my mail when it would cool down after dark.  It was like having the entire cast of THE LOST BOYS flying over my head.

And if you didn't have enough reasons, here's another one for loathing Facebook and how dumb people are (even some of my quote friends) - Gene Wilder is dead posts everywhere - oh, no, says everyone.  And like 80% of the death posts, it's not true.  Who are these ASSES who perpetrate this crap and why can't they be held accountable - yes, they get their clicks and you read an article - a fake article.  Better yet, why can't people just take the four damn seconds it takes to Google and see that it's a hoax before just automatically sharing the damn lie?  How bloody hard is THAT?

Looking at the volunteer sign-up website, they have one concessionaire, but it's not difficult for one person to handle concessions at SPSCC.  However, they only have two ushers signed up, when they want eight!  I e-mailed the volunteer coordinator that I could do either concessions or ushering at either venue.  Now, I'm just waiting to hear back where I am wanted...but I need to get ready.

Have a good rest of the day, all!

All went well.  The one person who had signed up for concessions had never done it there before, and not by herself, so she ushered and I worked concessions.

And shortly after I started setting things up for concessions, another person came in to help, so I didn't have to sell by myself.  We chatted the whole time and it was all good.

After intermission was over and we cleaned up the concessions area, I went down to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts to wait and watched the last number of Masterworks Choral Ensemble.  I went because my friend Margo was ushering for that and we were going to go out afterwards, which we did.  We went to McMenamin's Spar restaurant...very good.

The MCE were doing "Songs of Broadway," which is what I had originally signed up for, but I noticed that they weren't doing only Broadway songs.  Well, all the songs were performed on Broadway, but they weren't all written for Broadway...or even musicals.

Their last number was a big ABBA medley of songs that were used in "Mama Mia," which ended with "Waterloo."  I thought that that was a strange song to end on, but the audience seemed to like it all.

Okay. ::)

They also did a Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons song that was used in "Jersey Boys."

So, it wasn't pure Broadway, but oh well.  I had nothing to do with it. ;)

I'm about to play a wonderful tune on my 30 year young electric guitar, sorta like a little gig but the kiddy giddy version, I guess. The kids can feel free to jam if they want. Like they can play a wee bit of guitar too. I consider myself to be a guitar god.

I nicknamed myself Goddes Guitar for when we go out for a gig or two. Usually instead of having the guitar singing or just a singing guy we make the drummer sing. It never works out so I end up having to sing it, so guess who the default singer is?

Just a curious question, are/were any of you in a band at one point of time.

I was never in a band, but I was in choirs for quite a few years.  That's one of the reasons that I wanted to usher for the Masterworks Choral Ensemble.  I don't want to get back into choir singing, but I enjoy going to their concerts once in a while.

Speaking of noise, there was a manila envelope taped onto the Noisy Neighbors' door yesterday, with the apartment manager's handwriting on it. Eviction papers, I'm hoping.

Good luck with that!  Hopefully, it'll all be resolved...and quietly!

Cindy Williams new memoir Shirley, I Jest!: A Storied Life is coming out.

I'll buy it for the Bruce Kimmel chapters

I put in a purchase request for the Kindle version.  My library has ordered the book, and there are requests for that, so maybe they'll buy the e-book, also.  It's entirely possible.  They haven't gotten to the point of either/or with physical books versus e-books, yet.

That's a disappointment

As you know, Cindy plays a prominent role in my book.  I'm reduced to one line in hers.  I'd say one of us is a real writer and knows storytelling, and one doesn't.  I don't know how you reduce someone you've known for fifty years, have worked with repeatedly, had romance with, and been through a lot with, the guy you always turned to when the TV show was bugging you, and reduce that person to one single line in a book about your life.  I'm not the only one, however.

That's really too bad.

I hope we have more tv viewing options when we change hotels.  It is strange how the same shows play over and over and over and over again.

I hate it when that happens! :P
