Tuesday afternoon greetings!  I spent almost 2 hours at the dentist's office, having my teeth cleaned and my new crown installed.  It was quite a workover, but it's done and I can eat in about half an hour.  That's when I'm meeting my substitute treasurers to hand over Karen's basket of AAUW work to them.

Then, I can get ready to go to California!

Without going into detail. Equity's "step" was the worst possible step there could have been and will result in far less work for actors.  They could have listened to their members and come up with something that would have worked - most people would like some adjustments, but the actors WERE getting paid, not a lot, but no one ever worked for free. And most producers ended up paying well above the mandated stipend, and that includes our Inside Out actors - in fact, they got more than they would have under the new plan.  Where the new plan will kill intimate theater in LA is paying minimum wage for the rehearsal period.  It's just not possible on most theater's budgets - we could never have done What If under the plan, or Deceit, or Inside Out.  What reasonable people were suggesting was a tiered system based on the budget of a show.  Reasonable and doable.  When asked who these actors were that the big, bad producers were taking advantage of, not one could be found.   On the referendum vote, two-thirds of the people voting voted it down and Equity pushed it through anyway - good job ignoring the wishes of the members.  In the end they will lose this just as they lost it thirty years ago and life will go on.  The plan will have some changes and that will be good, too.  This was shoved through by a handful of actors who happen to get the handful of paltry and paltry-paying contract jobs in LA.

And obviously I disagree with our esteemed Pogue about A.I. (although there are many who agree with him, just as there are many who agree with me, and some are in the middle).

A great website resource for crossword cheaters!
http://wordinary.info/

It's interesting, but what if your word doesn't have a "Containing phrase" or an ending letter?  On this website, how do you remove (not just change) those defaults for your search? :-\

Maybe it's just my browser on my computer at work that's preventing those changes?  I'll have to check this out later.

OK, the AAUW treasurer stuff is in Judy and Becky's capable hands and I've had a delicious pimento cheese sandwich and a latte at Java Johnny's and NOW I can get ready to go to California!

Why do people not have the ability to show up on time.  First the helper was going to be hear at noon.  Then noon-thirty.  It's almost one and I am done waiting.  And Nick Redman was supposed to come by at lunch time - don't know how to translate that but need food.  Ten more minutes and I shall be out of here pronto.

John  Williams used to be my publicity client.

I handled his Oscar campaigns for both THE RIEVERS and FIDDLER ON A ROOF.

That's so cool!  Is there anyone you don't know? :D

Back from a Dr's appt. with my dad.....and now off the rehearsal.  I need to change the sign down at the road to give BAD SEED info.....so glamorous.

Director did not need me for INTO THE WOODS, he has a fine cast....except for one person.....but perhaps talent may come to the surface.....perhaps.....hasn't in the six years I have known this person....but perhaps...

I had a 2.5 hour lunch with my friend John Sheehan  this afternoon.  I hadn't seen him in years so it was fun to catch up and gossip.  He's working on a Cole porter project so we had a chance to talk about Porter and music.

~ ~ ~ SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES ~ ~ ~ for DR Ginny and DH Richard!

Thank you, DR Singdaw!  I'm flying alone to San Diego for the long weekend, while Richard attends to church business in NW Indiana and NW Ohio.  We'll meet Monday at SFO, pick up our rental car, and drive to Monterey for some vacation.  Then, back to San Francisco for the American Library Association annual conference June 26-July 1.

My boarding passes are printed and I'm as packed as I can be the night before a trip.

Our Ashland neighbor/friend is in Portland so we met her for lunch.  As expected we had a very enjoyable afternoon.  Now we are stuck in Portland traffic trying to get back to Washington.
