Just checking, because I just saw an honest-to-goodness live television ad for...

...fake Christmas trees!

Isn't that Kelli O'Hara amazing? She wins a Tony for "The King and I" and now she's leading the women's soccer team to the finals.

That's amazing!  It would be so cool to have one of those, but I don't take pictures often enough to justify even getting a newer camera than my 7-megapixel with 5x optical zoom point-and-shoot camera.

And now, I'm off to the movies.  My friend Margo went to a double feature of "Magic Mike" and "Magic Mike XXL" and asked if I wanted to go, too.  I didn't want to leave work that early (I would've had to have left by 4:00 or so), so I'm just going to see "Magic Mike XXL."  I'll have a report when I get home. ;)

Be back later.

Tonight's feature is an odd, almost three-hour war movie, The Young Lions, with a prissy, blond Marlon Brando sporting a bad German accent, Dean Martin and Montgomery Clift. I like the pacing of the first hour, but there's still two to go.

It's amusing, I suppose, that Donald has Van Dean as his guest.  And that's all I'll say about that, because I think we know that our little mentally ill stalker will immediately cut and paste anything I post here and send it right along.  It's happened before and it will happen again.  If anyone would like to know why I find that amusing I am always available via Private Message right here at haineshisway.com.

Had the quick trip to the editing room, then went to the Coral Cafe and left there about 12:50.  At one I got a call asking where I was - seems our Kritzerland rehearsal was starting at one - unfortunately I thought it was starting at our usual time of three.  Oh, well.  I managed to get there pretty quickly, albeit ten minutes late.

Rehearsal was not a walk in the park - a lot of key adjustments, and a lot of work to be done between now and the stumble-through.  But the cast will be great and the songs are great and I'm totally smitten with our opening number - that one almost did me in.  It's three young girls doing An Old-Fashioned Love Song.  I knew we'd have to figure out the key, but I couldn't remember which way, up or down.  When they sang it, it was ridiculously low, so I kept asking Shelly Markham to raise it and nothing we did was working and he was totally confused by all the keys because the actual key of the song is confusing because of the way it begins.  I should really have just walked over and looked at the music but I didn't.  The original key was Bb so I kept raising it, finally ending up in F.  But I just wasn't getting it and FINALLY I walked over to the music and had the girls sing it again in the original key - and they were singing an octave lower than what was written.  Had anyone said that to me I could have had it fixed in four seconds, because it wasn't about RAISING the key, it was LOWERING the key.  I asked why they were singing an octave under the notes and they said it was too high the other way :)  Once I understood, I simply told Shelly to drop from Bb to G and voila it was perfect.

bk - have you ever considered keeping a written (or digital) diary or calendar? They can be very helpful. For someone as busy as you are, especially.

That, or a personal assistant.       :)

I use iCalendar, but then I forget to put stuff in it, and right now it's not synching with my phone and Apple Care is trying to figure out why.

Had a nice dinner and now we're watching NCIS and packing for tomorrow's trip home.  I will miss California, but will be glad to be home with reliable wi-fi and our own mattress and shower.

Went to Gelson's and got a few items for snacking during the next week.  For tonight, I made two little no-fat small tortillas, filled them with no-fat "Mexican" cheese and some salsa - voila - perfect low calorie snack.  Now having melon balls.  I wrote melon galls, which I kind of like better.

Good night, all.

I heard my lab test results yesterday. Everything was all clear or better than it had been except for those pesky triglycerides. Seems like it's less dairy, along with less meat. But I like butter, cheese, ice cream, heavy cream and whole milk. I guess I'll cut down on fat-free sour cream, fat-free cream cheese, yogurt and ice milk.

If I wasn't a vegetarian I would be in big trouble.

Glad that the movers are finally there, DR Jane. And what a relief that they won't have to shuttle!

Thank you and yes, a big relief.

There never were extra workers, just the two who drove up with the truck.  They left at 8:30.  We went for a walk and returned home as the street lights went on.

Well, "Magic Mike XXL" was not too bad.  If you like to see sexy men dancing in not much clothing, then you will probably like this. ;D

The story was very simple.  The guys from the original movie, except for Matthew McConaughey, decide to get together for one last male stripping convention.  It was a pretty good movie.  There were probably only five people in the theater, though.

I've been watching FRONTLINE.  The episode is called "Growing Up Trans," and it's about how young adults and children are transitioning at younger ages than previous generations due to medical advances.
