Rehearsal was fine last night with a couple of technical glitches that had NEVER happened.  When I spoke to the technical director I was told: "Don't worry about it, these things happen."

I said why?  What caused them?

"We don't know....that's just the way it is....."

No......do your job....check the microphones....make sure you have the right music cue loaded...and don't forget to play it.....and follow your script if you're doing the light cues....don't guess when you think the scene is over.....sometimes the actors have SOMETHING ELSE TO DO.

Yikes!  Are these people so jaded and cynical that they just don't care anymore??

Watching Danny Kaye in the Five Pennies. Some great music, but the script could be better. I really love Barbara Bel Geddes, always have, but she's a real surprise in this one.

Well, the movie Love & Mercy was very good.  I didn't know what to expect, nor anything about Brian Wilson's life.  Paul Dano and John Cusack play Brian at two different times in his life and I thought that they both did a great job showing the effects of his diagnosed mental illness.

During the John Cusack scenes, his doctor, played by Paul Giamatti, pretty much had him drugged up and under his control, and when he (Brian Wilson) meets Elizabeth Banks' character (Melinda), they fall in love and she helps him get out from under his doctor's control.

The story isn't overly sensationalized and it's not hyper-intense, although there are a few pretty intense scenes.  As it says on Rotten Tomatoes, "the film intimately examines the personal voyage and ultimate salvation of the icon whose success came at an extraordinary personal cost."

Highly recommended.

It's interesting that there were some shakey camera shots during the movie, but not all the way through it.  I noticed them mainly during the Paul Dano scenes when they were in the recording studio.  I don't think that they really were necessary, but since they were used sparingly and to me they seemed to have a specific use, they weren't so distracting.

Also, the story is not told chronologically.  Each time period was chronological, but they went back and forth between the 1960s and the 1980s.

So my leading lady Beth....who plays the mother.....has no voice today and her doctor told her to rest today so she will have a voice tomorrow.

So we will be doing a SHORT rehearsal tonight.....without her.

Vixdad's Mum  (who broker her hip a couple of months ago)  had to go back and have the surgery redone
