Now everything makes sense - I should never trust idiots on Facebook posting on an LA page. The original photo of the drugstore was, of course on Cherokee, the street just to the east of Musso and Frank. The House of Pies next to Johnny's, which the poster SAID was what replaced the drugstore, was talking about Whitley, a street I've written about in one of the short stories, I think. I'm sure I have the Hollywood then and Now book - the Love's building now if you do a Google street view, is a hideous red thing with Asian writing on it, but the same. I don't know what's where the House of Pies was.

The bus wouldn't be much better. I would need to get to Second Avenue and take the M15 and then walk. With morning traffic it is just as long or longer than the Subway.

Thank you. This morning I ate cereal in a bowl from the dishes we purchased yesterday. We had left behind our old, chipped ones that did not match the colors here. Our new ones are black and white which is interesting as they remind us of the first set of dishes my mother purchased for us when we got married.

Went over all the Indiegogo stuff and she's already got it very organized and now will let me know how many mugs and t-shirts we have to make and we can get this show on the road. I have to go through three pages of e-mails at the kritzerland gmail address because so many people wrote and didn't want the mug or t-shirt, wanted to take catalog titles for their perks, and a few meant to check perk and didn't so we don't have those addresses. And I think our one big contributor at 5K didn't want ANYTHING.

I owe my finding of the Ruscha book to Adrianna Hofstetter. I forget which one, but a few books back there's a mention of "then and now" type books -- or maybe not, but I know the book made me realize I should see what's out there for Hollywood. I first found a couple that were okay, not fantastic, but better than the usual. And then I came across this one...and wow.

I've said "condo" (my preferred term), "apartment" (this is what the post office prefers) and "house." Take your pick.

Lunch meeting got pushed to Wednesday. One of the participants lives about a mile from me and asked if I'd tried the new Studio City barbecue joint - I'd never even heard of it. It's in the former Spark restaurant, where I had a couple of terrific meals, literally just a few steps from the old Varese Sarabande office. So, I drove right over there. It's one of those trendier barbecue jernts, not traditional, but the two dishes I had were really excellent - a brisket sandwich - not too big and very flavorful, and a side dish of shells and cheese (with a few scattershot scallions) that was fantastic. Next time I'll try the Frito Pie and their raved about special, the Ho Cake - a corn bread pancake with sizzling maple butter.
