Well, you've read the notes, the notes were final, and now it is time for you to post until the final cows come home.

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday in the late afternoon because things froze up just when I had to leave to usher for a local production of "To Kill a Mockingbird."  I just finished reading the book a few weeks ago, so it was all pretty fresh in my mind.  I thought that it was a very good production with some very good performances.  The girl playing Scout was pretty good, but I think her energy and concentration lagged as the play went on...not horribly, but noticeably.  She is very young.  The actress is about the real age that Scout is supposed to be.

The audience was filled and they loved it.  A woman two seats away from me was crying at the end.  I wasn't affected by it that much (there were some nits to pick...bad accents...enunciation...volume), but I really did enjoy it.  Interestingly, a couple of actor friends of mine saw it and hated it.  Just did not like it at all.  I'll definitely need to find out what was so bad about it.  I know I can be more forgiving (aka...my standards are lower), but I don't see how someone could "hate" it.

My friend Margo and I went out for a bite to eat afterward, and now I'm home and in bed.

Today, my sister is helping with a charity fund raising walk around downtown Olympia (I don't know which charity) in the morning, and she volunteered me to help.  Then I think we're supposed to walk the walk.  That will be fine but I'd better remember some sunscreen.

The TOD:

The stage manager:  The director wants to cut the line "He was just saying how happy he is to be right here with all of us" and replace it with "Nothing."
I said, replace it with Nothing?
The stage manager said, yes, that's right.
Me: You mean you want to cut the line?   That won't make sense, it'll sound ridiculous, like there's a set-up question with no follow-up, so you'd have to cut the line before it too.
(Confusion for a while, with me just not getting what the stgae manager was saying)
The stage manager says:  No, we're not asking to cut the line, the director wants the character to actually say "Nothing" so it'll be like "What were you all giggling about?"  "Oh, nothing."
Me:  Oh, that could work and get to the song quicker [and I was thinking maybe even get a laugh in context.  Really good thinking on the part of the director.]
Stage manager:  Great.

On the tax work front, I'd say there were lots of annoying moments over the years, I wouldn't classify anything I can think of as embarrassing.

This seemed to go over nicely when I posted it in the NYT comments, my parody-tribute to the new apps for Fashion Week making it available to the whole city rather than the elite few.

Nice that there’ll be apps and other ways to make the Fashion Week experience more democratic.

Tune of “Always True To You in My Fashion”

In the past a Fashion Week
Was exclusive to the chic
Now this Week it’s us they seek, so shout hooray
There are always apps to use when they’re talking fashion
There are always apps to use to hear what they say

So we’ve never gotten snaps
For our jackets or our wraps
Grab their apps and stylish chaps will look our way
There are always apps to use when they’re talking fashion
There are always apps to use to hear what they say

I’m a fashion-challenged mess
Who just can’t dress for success
Now this mess
Can nonetheless
Make out okay

There are always apps to use when they’re talking fashion
There are always apps to use - to hear what they say

Good morning, all!

I'm happy to see this site today. I tried to log on several times last night and failed.  I finally thought, to hell with it and went back to the Noël Coward letters.

Got to run a few errands, work on the keyboard book some more, then try to just relax.  Lots going on right now, and I leave for Ohio on Tuesday.
