I would like to know what I did that I am now seeing everything in a grey/green color.  Sometimes it alternates back to black & white.

Well, it's time for me to go to bed.  In the morning, I MUST get to work at least on time.  I am participating in a conference call because one of our major vendor's databases (that we access for stock information) is going to have a major upgrade and we need to learn all about it.  Anyway, I need to get to sleep early so that I can attempt to get to work early, so that I actually get to work on time. ::)

I got to work on time!  Whew!  The phone call went well and it only lasted about a half hour.  We gave and got needed information and hopefully the transition will be seamless.  I know it really won't, but there's always hope.

I have a friend taking a business trip with her husband to Olympia & Tacoma.  She is looking for hotel sugestions.

I wish I could help you.  I don't know how good or bad any local hotels are. :-\

For anyone who has seen, and loved, "84 Charing Cross Road", but you have not read the book:  READ THE BOOK!

Yes, the book is wonderful.

An incredible book.  It's been a revelation every one of the several times I've read it.

I guess I avoided the movie for years because I couldn't imagine a filmed version being any good, period.  But I was more than delightfully surprised at how they pulled it off.

With those recommendations, I think I'll check this out, too.  There doesn't seem to be an e-book version, so I placed a hold on a physical copy.  There were a couple copies available, so it'll come quickly. :)

I'm up and have been on the phone with a very helpful Mac support person, even though my Apple Care has expired.  He could have charged me but didn't.  Last night, I was on Google and I clicked on a website to see if there was a Welcome to My World blurb and suddenly I got this warning thing that locked up everything on Safari - I could not get rid of it, and it said I had a security issue, that another computer was trying to access my stuff and to call the Mac number immediately to fix it.  I forced quit Safari, I shut down the computer, but when I restarted and launched Safari that thing came up again, locking me out of doing anything on Safari.  It was very scary, but I'm smart enough to know not to call any number that's not the official Mac support line.  So, I went to bed, called Mac this morning and it was indeed a scam that some ASS felt necessary to do.  And there's only one way to get it off your screen but it's easy as pie and I'm giving it to you now:  Force quit Safari, hold the shift key down and relaunch Safari and it will be gone.  Then reset Safari, which clears it from your cache and everything else.  He also had me check a few other things just to make sure  it hadn't done anything, then we did a repair disc permissions to make the computer work faster, he had me remove anything but iTunes and Finder that were launching automatically, we deleted Applications that I don't use and were unfamiliar to us.  Then he said strongly that I needed to upgrade the operating system - I'm three OS's behind, so he sent me to the APP store to get the free upgrade to Yosemite, explained how that all worked, and it's downloading the upgrade now, and once it completes I restart the computer, then wait for about thirty minutes while it does its thing.

Yikes! :o Good thing it was an easy fix.

This should be read holding an actual book.

Back from a Cobb salad (with just red wine vinegar instead of fattening dressing) and a bagel.  Did some banking and am now home and surprisingly still fighting a headache.  I'm sure that's because of all the computer stuff  this morning, but I'm now enjoying getting to know the knew stuff on Yosemite.

Well, I'm going to go to Comcast now and swap out my dead DVR.  I hope that the replacement doesn't cost any more money.  They get too much from me as it is (of course, I'm paying, so there's that ;) ), but I don't want a huge upgrade with a huge cost increase.

Be back later.

By the time Keith came home I was seeing magenta on my computer.  He looked at it and said "this is not good".  It looks like my video card went bad.  He is pondering it and I am on my Nook.  :(

Have any of you watched MOZART IN THE JUNGLE? It is a series for Amazon. The first season is currently available, and there is a second season due in January.  I binge watched the first five episodes today, and i really enjoyed it. It revolves around members of a New York City symphony orchestra.  It stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Malcolm McDowell.  It is based on the memoir, "Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs and Classical Music."  Sadly, the first season has only episodes.

Thanks, Jane.  I was able to swap out my dead DVR for a living DVR at no cost change.  These DVRs can only record two programs at a time, while watching a third that's already recorded.  If I had upgraded to the newest "X1" DVR which can record four, count 'em FOUR, programs while watching a fifth, it would actually cost a few dollars less, but I have programs recorded on my currently working DVR that I'm not yet ready to get rid of.  And once you upgrade to the X1, you can't go back.

The other reason that I don't want to upgrade yet is that these older DVRs have an Ethernet cable input where I can hook up an Ethernet cable and record certain programs to a computer (actually, my sister's boyfriend's laptop) and he can burn these programs to a Blu-ray!

The new X1 cable boxes (from what I've read) no longer have this Ethernet cable input so I won't be able to have Blu-rays made anymore. :( So I want to hang on to these older DVRs for as long as I can...or at least until someone can figure out how to make Blu-rays from TV shows recorded on the new X1 DVRs.

After leaving my computer off for an hour the magenta is gone.  It is still is grey & green.  I do see the blue here.  The colors are just all off.  At least I can see everything now with the magenta gone.
