I probably need to watch my phraseology on that one.

Doesn't really work.  Sounds a little too much like "Page the Duke!" or some such.

TOD:
I loved both "Mamma Mia" and "Jersey Boys"!
I saw "Movin' Out" (based music by Billy Joel) which told a story with dancing while a separate band played and sang the music. I was pretty bored. I really don't like pantomime in dancing. Dancing should be dancing and pantomime should be pantomime. The two don't mix.
I'm really scared to see "Night at the Opera" but I imagine I will someday, if it ever comes here.

It seems that Marjorie Lord - of Make Room for Daddy - passed away on November 28, at the age of 97.

They didn't get me THIS time - today's Facebook idiocy are the shocked posts that Harry Morgan has died.  Yes - in 2011.

John, George and Tom. Did you get your parcels yet?  They were shipped the same day Jack's was shipped

I have not...yet.  I'll watch out for it, though.  Thanks!

When I like a jukebox musical, I prefer to use the nicer-sounding term "catalog musical."   :)

I've never heard that term before.

TOD:

42nd Street was one jukebox musical that worked for me. Gower Champion and the writers simply took the Al Dubin-Harry Warren songbook and filled out the stage with song and movement and color. The story was slight to begin with, so the songs gave something hokey a little more emotional heft and fun.

I saw Smokey Joe's Cafe twice, and while I like the music, it was a better album than it was two hours+ in the theater. It was just one song after another with no dramatic push, no narrative, nothing but a first act of novelty songs and a second act of big hits. Yawn.

Wouldn't "Smokey Joe's Cafe" be considered a musical revue and not really a "jukebox musical"?  That, of course, has nothing to do with whether you liked it or not.  That's a separate issue.

;)

Well, now that I've caught up with all the posts, I must now get ready to go to work.  I need to finish the last step of the fiscal year rollover that I started last night, but couldn't finish.  It requires, however, an administrative password that I don't have.

I sent an e-mail to the entire Computer Services staff (there is a departmental e-mail that goes to all of them at one time), and the new CS manager replied that someone would be in today who could help me.  So, I'm off.

Have a good day, all!
