I have enjoying a reasonable facsimile of this cookie made by Chas' Fave David's cookies... They are called almond meltaways

I bought a large tin of them in Costco and no one else in the family has tried them so they don't know how delicious they are. So they are mine, mine mine all mine !!!!!!!

Right before Christmas I made shortbread cut-outs, pecan snowballs, and gingerbread men & reindeer. Took a small plate to Mom and a generous plate to Richard's brother's on Christmas Day and we've been eating the rest. This afternoon I had the last of the gingerbread with a cup of tea.

I do have a bit of advice for folks who live far away from their aging parents. If there's a sibling close by who's dealing with them day-to-day, please find a way to be supportive to her or him. Once in a while my sister sends me some restaurant gift cards or some other surprise to show her appreciation. Most recently she sent a Secret New York coloring book. It means a lot.

I completely understand. The closest that Mom and Dad have in my sister Annaliese, who lives about 75 miles away. She's able to visit regularly but not weekly.
